To what end? The moral conscience of the nation isn't going to matter if the moral soul of the nation is still dead in sin.

You don't think it's a problem that I can't take a 5 year old kid into the gas station because they might see graphic porn pictures?

Good parenting means working on behalf of your children's future not only your own but your neighbor's. It's our duty to speak out on behalf of our children now and to protect them from media indoctrination. Not for our children only but for all those who we care about.

Political power, at core, is a tool that's almost universally misused. When we start talking about changing nations, and restoring the soul of America, and X, Y, and Z, we're dealing with something beyond the scope of anything an individual can accomplish, or an individual Church, or an individual state, or an individual nation as a whole.

When we're talking about restoring the soul of the block you or I live in, well, that's a different matter. When ten people talk about restoring the block they live in, we can expect something to happen. When a hundred people start talking about restoring the blocks they live in... you get the picture. We can't change society, but we can change our immediate environments.

It's idealistic to think that way. You're talking about either forcing people to stop being evil, or forcing people to do it quietly in their rooms while nobody's looking. There is no better world outside the gates of Eden.

We all need to do all we can to keep each other awake to the perils that face us as individuals, as communities, as church's as a state, as a nation. So that by all means the best that can be done is being done.

There is no hope for a person or a nation without ideals. When Jesus comes to govern the world don't you think He will institute rules an impose laws upon His people?

Of course we need to be concerned about what our government is doing and do all we can to effect our world for ourselves and our children for a better tomorrow. Doing less regardless of our concerns for what is going to happen otherwise (fulfillment of prophecy) is no excuse. It's not OK that we are destroying our environment, it's not Ok that we have to be concerned with our children being exposed to drugs and porn in our schools. Or for that matter being safe from other kids with guns. We certainly have an obligation to do what we can to turn these tides. It's not simply idyllic it's our responsibility.

What I'm talking about is the general attitude our society has towards these issues. The church can have a powerful influence on our society but not if we are participating in the same things we call sin, or simply turning a blind eye to what's happening around us.

There are countless examples in scripture that God is moved when leadership instructs the people to repent.

Part of doing hte best by your family is preparing your children to stand strong in a world of evil. If you shelter them and keep them in a bubble they will leave the haven of home and crumbled under the onslaught of secularism...not matter what form it takes.

So you prepare them...and teach them to make their homes a haven from the evil of the world when they're gone from the nest.

You want to legislate morality? ... so much for the Republic of the USA....you apparently prefer a theocracy with all it's legalistic limitations...how then would we be any better than say....Afghanistan under the Taliban?
