haha.. I have no idea how to use slang properly - I look like a moron when I try. I am getting tired of saying the word "cool" though. I've been saying it since i was able to speak.

My words of preference are:
O Snap
chillin'
sweet or sweetness
awesome
and dude instead of dawg.
i use the word "man" alot.

This guy from my old college was hilarious. he would say "man" every other word. He went up in chapel to pray once (bless his soul) and it went like this:

"Father God, Man... I just wanted to thank you man for all that you've done man... I ask that you guide us man in all our ways man that we could glorify you man all the time."

But man was he in it to serve the Lord like no other.

I think we've all experienced good and bad in each forum. I've had some excellent exchanges in OBOB and excellent exchanges in here... and I've been called names in both! ;)

The numbers are surely against us. In the US, I believe that there approx 65-70 million Catholics... the largest Baptist denom (by far) is the SBC which has about 16 million members. Globally, the gap is so immense it needs not description!

They do fellowship nicely there... but there are some disadvantages. If you miss a day or two of posting in OBOB, you're like 20 threads and 100 posts behind! Here, we are often able to fully work through a doctrine or a discussion... OBOB moves at lightneing speed!

I grew up in the CC (in the Archdiocese of John Cardinal Krol) and can attest to both good and bad experiences with people there as well as in the Baptist churches... but I must say (this is a Baptist forum remember :) ), that the experience of running into a born-again believer (of any denom) in an odd place is quite a difference experience than when I ran into a fellow Catholic in an odd place back in the day... now, the lightbulbs go off and the joy swells...

I realize that is anecdotal (which I would never use as evidence of anything), it's just a personal observation that I share... no insult intended :).

As to the other issue: I live in Alabama... so I'm in no position to make fun of anyone in Texas!

Not to be negative, but I've noticed that the most mysogynist forums form the tightest "fellowships" too. I'm glad to hear that Catholics find what they want in their forum, but if the Baptist want to form tighter bonds, ...let's just make sure we don't turn into some religious clique.

Greetings Jeff.

KCJlsI've tried to type and say those slang words, but It takes too long to do it. I've always wondered how they do it.
I dunno, but some slang has actually made it into the new oxford english dictionary. IE Bling Bling, i forget what the others were.

Thanks for that kind offer, Red. The real question is: What KIND of Coke? Especially for the Texans in this thread. ;)
In my (home) part of the country, it's pop.
I grew up in an area where it was pop as well. I went to Oklahoma for awhile and they called it sodi or soda. I will be dag nabbed if i don't call it that now, and I am in NY... :)

For me the soda will have to be caffiene free diet coke (in effect colored water) since regular sodi pop does wierd things to me... :)
