Thank you, Crystal. It was a nice video and I appreciate you posting it here. It's hard to tell people that I'm still struggling with finding a job, especially when some people act like there are plenty of jobs out there and the problem is with the job seekers. (How those people can be so ignorant is beyond me, but that's a rant for another thread.) So, this thread, and that video, are the support I need and I'm sure others need, too.

I'm right there with you! People just don't understand how tough it is. I've had people tell me "You're not trying hard enough". I'm like are you serious? ? Mind you the people that say this have a job.

I have to be careful who I talk about it with as well. People are just idiots sometimes.

You're welcome m'dear.

I pray God uses it to encourage yourself and others. :)

I couldn't see the video, but I agree. Although, the shoe is on the other foot now. For the longest time, I admit I had a few thoughts on people who just could not seem to find a job for years and years on end. I didn't understand what was so hard about working for just a fast food place or retail just to have a job in the interim. Now that I'm actively looking and have been for months (and I won't even kid, YEARS - even when I have had a job), it makes it very apparent that if you do not have the skills, you simply aren't wanted... OR, you can settle for making $8.00/hr which is just sick to me. I can't afford to take a pay cut much less one like that. But, either places where I'm qualified are in a hiring freeze or they're simply not hiring OR I'm up against 50917589 other people who need a job. Makes it even more pressing to go back to school or at least work on creatively making some secondary income.

Over here, you are even lucky to get a retail or fast food chain job. It is all about the people you know or the experience you have even for the menial jobs.
It's like that here too, I'm hoping a lot of jobs open up at least seasonally though. There is still going to be a lot of competition I think.

Hey everyone!

I just wanted to check in and see how everyone is doing. Any updates to share? :)

I do have a volunteer opportunity coming up here soon at a local church. I'll be doing some filing for their worship leader. She's also going to help me with my music/voice. I'm quite excited about it. :D

I'm still in need of a job... Hoping to try for one place around me that's (from what I've heard) $17 an hour starting out. I have college loans to pay of and everything else so... I need something soon!

I almost feel funny posting this here, but here goes. I got a job! for the holidays (and we'll see about the future). The only catch is that I'm not scheduled for too many hours (25/week), and some of my shifts could start as early as 7am. If you've seen the timestamps on many of my posts, you can see how experienced I am with early-bird hours.
Can y'all pray that I can pick up more hours, and have my shifts moved to something that begins a little later in the day? I feel funny, and anything but confident, about asking, since I haven't even begun yet, and don't want a bad reputation.

Don't feel bad my friend. I'm not a morning person either so I completely understand that. I'll be praying about that and more hours.

Praising you found something though.
