Why and how would a deep pit going down into the ground be disguised as a phone booth which rises up from the ground? And why would a blind person be leading another blind person into a phone booth which barely accommodates a single person?
Mind if we ramp the allegorical use up a bit? For the Lord's precept applies to any modernization. Understanding such limitations for phone booth analogies, tens of thousands can now fit into someone's pocket fully stuck in the proverbial "pit" of blind gainsay and drivel.

The right of the people to keep and bear arms is an extension of the natural right to self-defense and a hallmark of personal sovereignty. It is specifically insulated from governmental interference by the Constitution and has historically been the linchpin of resistance to tyranny, , , The historical reality of the Second Amendment’s protection of the right to keep and bear arms is not that it protects the right to shoot deer. It protects the right to shoot tyrants, and it protects the right to shoot at them effectively, with the same instruments they would use upon us. - Andrew P. Napolitano Superior Court Judge for the state of New Jersey 1987-95

...say, what kind of instrument do you need to effectively protect your home against an AH-64 Apache armed with Hellfire missiles?

Problem is Proud Boys and oath keepers and other right wing groups were recently on the side of supporting tyranny and subverting democracy.

They strongly advocate guns and weapons because of tyranny and then as soon as a president tries to overturn an election and install itself as a virtual dictator they jump on the bandwagon.

Those of us who support democracy are launching our crusade through legal means, including bringing the 1/6 insurrectionists to trial.

You my friend are right to ask, the tyrant has been busy throwing the waters of disgust on the 2-A for decades to dis-arm the patriot's vigor. Surely, you see the tide to quench it?

Did he make this pronouncement from the bench or Fox News? (The date range given implies this is not from a case.)

So if your saying two opposing viewpoints are accusing the other of tyranny, which one would you say Thomas Jefferson would agree with?

Not the "militias" who would more likely be praised by Benedict Arnold...or Gen. Burgoyne.

Let's remember who is trying to pass a voting rights act, and who is pushing voter suppression in their red states.

In no part of this statement does it say that those who value public safety and who recognize that a document written for "muskets" needs modification for automatic and semi automatic weapons are "tyrants." Instead they are people with a healthy mix of common sense and compassion.

Just replace all the gas stations with electric charging stations.

They'll run out of gas eventually.

I used to think the same as you...the military would wipe the floor with a real insurrection. However, the fact that we haven't decisively won a full scale conflict since WW2 has changed my mind.

....I was asking a different question. Where would the op draw the line - if any?

And no, the US military would never win a real insurrection.

I doubt you know what is in either the "voting rights act" or any of the voting protection measures pushed by red states.

Sample from red states: Closing many polling places, especially in cities which trend Republican (Texas.) Closing mail voting boxes (Texas.) Shortening early voting days and hours (Georgia.) Gerrymandering (8 out of 9 states increasing gerrymandering are red.) Legislatures can overturn legal citizen votes (Arizona). And more.

Voting Rights Act:

establish new federal election standards, eliminate partisan gerrymandering, and enact automatic voter registration at the national level. Federal requirements for early voting and mail-in voting standards.

Not only do I know what's happened, but more importantly, I know what improves our democracy and what subverts it.

Sadly, you seem to be one of those people who just reads whatever your side puts out....then repeats that as if it were fact. That's nothing personal...most people seem to do that.

I listened to both sides explain why the bill was important....or awful.

Democrats- claim it will prevent another January 6th.
-claim it will prevent new and current racial discrimination in voting
-claim it will prevent future gerrymandering

-Republicans claim its unconstitutional because it violates the constitution in regards to both elections and redistricting.
-claim it has nothing to do with January 6th, racial discrimination or gerrymandering
-claim it will actually make widespread election fraud far easier and more dangerous

Now that last one sounded like nonsense to me, so I just read the actual bill itself. Sadly, 100% true....

“(A) in the case of an individual who desires to vote in person, by presenting the appropriate State or local election official with a sworn written statement, signed by the individual under penalty of perjury, attesting to the individual’s identity and attesting that the individual is eligible to vote in the election; and

“(B) in the case of an individual who desires to vote by mail, by submitting with the ballot the statement described in subparagraph (A)

Quite literally you can just show up in any district, claim to be a person who lives there, vote and leave. No ID or verification of citizenship required. If that's too inconvenient for you....just mail in a similar statement and you're good to go.

As for preventing a January 6th? I don't see anything to indicate that.

As for prevent racial discrimination? We already have laws against it. Stacy Abrams challenged Georgia's new laws....turns out there's nothing racially discriminatory about them. This is one of those left wing conspiracy theories.

Gerrymandering? Pass a gerrymandering bill that clearly states what a fair district looks like. This bill doesn't eliminate gerrymandering so much as it enshrines Democratic Party gerrymandering into law.

It's about as blatant a power grab as I've ever seen from either party. The people who cosigned it should resign in shame.
