A lively discussion on another thread sparked questions about this topic. What was tne nature of Christ's Atonement, according to Scripture? What does the Bible teach was accomplished on the cross? The intent of this OP is to study these qiuestions from the Bible, not commentaries. It is not what Charles Finney said, or Spurgeon, or whoever, but Scripture.

Okay, following up on this. What did Christ accomplish on the cross? Where in Scripture might one begin to find that out? I did a wordsearch on cross in the Pauline Epistles, the NIV:

What do these verses tell us about what the cross accomplished?

hi Mr.Arch, while you're at it would you do us a favor and print out a list like above of what kind of correlation the Cross has with Sin & Death?

Thanks!

Here, here!

While your at it, why not do a word search on the words "atone" and atonement" as they correlate to the cross and sin and death?

God Bless

Till all are one.

Actually, the list above includes all the occurrences of the word cross in the Pauline epistles. If the cross is mentioned in reference to sin and/or death, then those words would be found somewhere on that list. If those words do not occur with the word cross, then adding those words to the search list would not yield any additional verses.

So, you are saying that you will not do a word search on the words "atone" and "atonement" from the NT?

If your question addresses Christ's atonement, seems to me that one would look at scriptures that address that.

Guess I'm wrong.

Ahh, okay, I see, yes, that was the next intended step. I was referring to 'sin' and 'death' appearing in conjunction with 'cross.' The atonement list follows.

Atonement, four occurrences in the NT:

Atoning, two occurrences:
No occurrences found for atone, atoned, atones.

Now, where was the atonement made?

Where were sins atoned for?

And who now has "the keys of hell and death"?

And where were these ultimately defeated at?

God Bless
