  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I, for one, am curious how it is that you have heard it. From whom? For what purpose? How do you know it was the right pronunciation? Where did you get that idea? Just wondering.

Hey, it's a fair question. I received the Name's pronunciation from my father, who received it from HIS father, and so forth and so on. I'm not under the illusion that the pronunciation of the Name might not be as originally spoken to Moses; it's just that it was given to me as it is, and I have nothing other to rely on.

Just curious (again), what do you mean by "except for sometimes in prayer or blessing"? What exactly do you say, if you could spell it out phonetically?

I'm not sure the pronunciation of the Name is all that important to God. He is the King of all Kings, and He hears and sees all. So different languages, accents and understandings are things that are surely not too big for Him to handle. He sees the heart and the intention. I don't think He would be offended by a sincere heart mispronouncing His Name, any more than a Father is of his baby child not quite getting his name right either.

I've often wondered how fathers would feel if their sons and daughters started calling them "The Name" rather than Father, or Dad or Fred or whatever.

Having said that, I personally use "Adonai" or "Lord" in English, because a title is a term of respect. I use "Father" as well, as our Master has taught.

Makes you wonder if the Lord hears someone saying the name of the Lord in Spanish just as much as the Hebrew, although the Hebrew does have a differing impact to it.
