  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This is an interesting topic indeed. However I find it hard to believe that Allah is the same God as the Christians and the Jewish people. Why? Because if one were to read the Quran and compare it to the Torah and the bible, one would find that Allah in the Quran is not the same as in the Torah or the bible. Many Christian groups have been stating that the Allah that the Muslims worship is the same God as ours. Sorry to say that is not true.

There is a big comparison. However SlaveofGod, what on earth is a "Deist at heart but a staunch pre-Islamic Paganist" With Pre-Islamic Paganist? I have never heard of such a thing. And also if this is Pre-Islamic than would you not still be considered a Muslim?

Have you read the Quran?

Many Muslims who become Christians really start showing others of how the Quran doesn't match up with the word of God. I have several books here which are written by ex-Muslims and they take their Quran apart bit by bit and show the differences with the bible. I would give you the book titles however it is in the bedroom. Hubby is still sleeping. One book is really good. I will get the titles for you when I get a chance.

Ok here are the books that I have that are written by ex-Muslims.

"Islam Unveiled" by Abdullah Al-Araby- he is a born again Christian and goes around the world teaching the bible and exposing the lies of the Quran.

"Daughters of Islam" by Miriam Adeney

"Behind the Veil-Unmasking Islam" by Abd El Schafi- he also is a born again Christian who is teaching against Islam. This book is very detailed.

"Comparing the Quran and the Bible" by Rick Richter. He works with Muslims and ex-Muslims. This book is very detailed and had charts set up with Quran verses on one side and the bible verses on the other. Comparing Quranic verse to the biblical verses.

There were others that I have read however they were from the library.

Aniello,

Yes, they so much go by the Hadiths more so than the Quran. And I agree the Hadiths are scary stuff. Also one will see that there is contradictions in the Hadiths compared to the Quran. Some places will tell you what had been added to the Quran and what was taken out.

Seven,

Yes I have read the Quran and it is nothing like our bible or Torah. One has to really read it and study it.

Moriah Ruth

Even most Jews I know would disagree with you. The Qur'an consists of the same content as the Tawrat and Islamic fiqh do not differ than Jewish custom as a whole.

Islam is very Jewish to an extent and less Christian.

Trying not to derail this thread :D. It is for Messianic Jews after all ^_^.

But if I am apart of Wathani then I am automatically not Muslim. The Qur'an specifically calls for the deaths of pre-Islamic theists, poets and religious figures.

Anything pre-Islamic is anti-Islamic. They were called kafir and Zindiq and butchered by Muhammad. Being a Wathani is almost an attack against Islam because Muslims often hide the pagan origins of Islam and deny it is just a mixture of Wathaniyya with Judaism.

SlaveofGod,

I respect your opinion, however I would have to disagree with you on that.

Moriah Ruth

Does the Qur'an not mention the works of Nuh(Noah), Yusuf, Musa(Moses), Ibrahim(Abraham)?

The Qur'an contains all of the Tawrat to a greater extent. The issue is not with content but with the literary style of the Qur'an which is far different. This is why Muslim believe in so many things the Jews do while Jews view them as copy-cats.

The Qur'an is actually plagiarized to be frank.

Including those of Christians and Jews?

SlaveofGod,

Ok sorry, you did answer the question after I had sent the post. Ok so you are saying that Pre-Islamic worshipped idols?

And are you saying that Wathani is a mixture of pagan beliefs as well as Jewish beliefs?

And yes the Quran does talk about Noah, Moses and Abraham but not on a Christian or Jewish perspective. It is sort of backwards. This is my thought.

No no no, I said the exact opposite. Wathaniyya just means the theology before Islam arrived. Did you think Arabs were always Muslims? Europeans were not always Christians of course at one point in history.

Muhammad just took pre-Islamic beliefs and mixed them with Judaism and apocryphal texts and formed a new religion.
