I was thinking about mullets today and wondered if such a hair style can be considered ambiguous and therefore potentially an indicator that some sort of abomination is afoot. Should I rebuke people who have mullets or just quietly pray for them?

You know what I mean, right?

Or, possibly it's just a really, REALLY bad hair style idea? That's probably it, but let me know what you think.

Is this a joke? Mullets are funny but i'd hate for somebody on this forum to be hurt by the criticism of their hairstyles. The mullet is actually a very practical style for outdoor workers.

Ambiguous? Sexually? I get mistaken for being gay quite often. Am I am sinning by not being overweight or having an Alpha male affectation? Morally? We are all sinners -from Sunday school teachers to meth cooks.

This forum of God is hardly the place for this type of discussion that could alienate a mullet wearer who is either a brother in Christ now or later.

The moral outrage is a joke. Otherwise I'm deadly serious.

You can ask my friend who is a hairdresser.

Of course God wanted the Israelites to look different, so he told them not to poll their heads and trim their beards. The secret of Samson's strength was in his hair.

Why do you ask? Are you having trouble, struggling with your own hair? I wouldn't worry so much, at least you have some. Mine seems to be falling out. But I'm getting help and minerals for it.

This place shouldn't be used as a joke forum. While valid questions that have nothing to do with theology are becoming as rare as roc's teeth, those that abide by the true spirit of this place need to be respected by not making light of this place.

Some people come here with legitimate issues. Let's give them the respect they deserve by keeping this place's atmosphere as safe, rational, and profound.

As the "Kentucky Waterfall" (aka mullet) is pretty much a man's hairstyle, I would say it's not ambiguous. Not the coolest looking hairstyle, more of a sign the wearer is a blue collar worker and not overly concerned with keeping up with the latest styles.

If it's a really bad mullet, they need immediate prayer and possibly anointing with oil so that they may be restored to normal hair.

(I think it's good to lighten the mood sometimes with a joke.)

Hi znr. Nah. I was only half serious about being deadly serious. The half serious was for just in case you were serious. It can be really hard to tell on this forum. I suspect I've been successfully trollled a few times already.

I'm sure any mullet wearer on this forum wears it with a deep sense of irony and welcomes the attention both negative and positive. Maybe we should start a thread about hipsters. Now there is demographic worthy of a good old fashioned Rightous rebuke.

Pabst anyone?

Apologies to hipsters on this forum. Now go listen to Sufjan Stevens.

I will be quiet soon. Honest.

I had a mullet once, by mistake (long story). It was emotionally scaring.

J/K for anyone reading too seriously into this. Even though I truly hated that haircut. And I think the occasional lightheartedness is fine. Seriously.

I remember I had a hairdresser give me a mullet when I didn't even ask for one. I was so mad. I went home and cut my hair straight. I'm not ever going back to that hairdresser again.

They are or were fashionable in my part of town. If you see the tv show Outrageous Fortune, that's what it's like, but super-exaggerated.

Moral Lesson- don't go to a hairdresser you don't know.

Lol I dunno if this is for serious or kind of a joke but...
I always hated mullets. They don't remind me of sexual ambiguity as much as laziness or desperate vies for attention.
Like, they were a big deal in the 80's and 90's. So anyone who still has one is either 1) in denial about what era it is 2) too lazy to update the look they had since 25 years ago 3) they think it looks good which they are sorely mistaken or 4) all of the above
Also, I know this is a horrible stereotype just like assuming certain nationalities like a certain kind of music or food or clothing.... but when I was growing up in the 90's, it always seemed like the people I was introduced to that had mullets were.... terrible people. like trashy.
So that doesn't help this forlorn hairstyle's case.
They like to say "business in the front, party in the back!" but unless you're "that" type of person, wouldn't you want a hairstyle that is a little more professionally recognized?
It only takes about 2 to 5 minutes to get a clipper at home and shave off that long part so don't tell me you "don't have the time".
It only costs $10 at Hair Cuttery or Great Clips to just get it buzzed all together so don't tell me "you're too cheap".
That is my 2 cents.
