The more I learn about Christianity, the less true it seems

There are four canonical gospels, however there were dozens more written that didn't make it in the canon.

Here's a list of the non-canonical gospels that didn't make the cut: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Gospels#Apocrypha_and_pseudepigrapha

Those are the ones we know about, it's certainly likely that other gospels were lost to history as well.
Now I see, your into the gnostic books and apocrypha.

So you say you are talking about the standard 66 book Bible, but are not. Well then, enjoy your reading but do not talk about how you disagree with Christianity. You have all sorts of things your adding to it.

It would be better for you to know what 'gospel' means, before you begin assigning books as gospels. I mean really, you are just uneducated about true Christianity. You fight against something you do not know.

I have been poking at Christianity for many years and I have read a whole list of books from both sides.

Christianity comes by divine revelation from God. Self-help and apologetic books are good. They are not God teaching you through divine action, though.... especially if a given book were in error. If it were in error, certainly God would have difficulty reaching you through deceit.

Learning scripture then happens by God. That's why you made incorrect statements about the Bible not being historically accurate. But how would you know? You wouldn't unless God told you.

Certainly if we listen to the opinions of world that shift like the wind, and natural sciences based upon uncertain philosophies and errors in reasoning, certainly then the Bible is wrong.

But why would we base what is true on the natural scientific philosophy, or even historical inquiry? It's a legitimate question to ask yourself. For example, can you prove this scientific philosophical assumption to yourself, beyond all shadow of a doubt, to believe it beyond any ability to poke holes in it?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uniformitarianism

Yet to assume most historical inquiry is true, especially that of scientific quality is accurate you would have to prove that assumption without error. It can't be done. Science just makes the assumption. Which is fine for science, but it doesn't tell us whether it is true or not.

Only way to figure out if Christianity is true to is to seek God. If you seek men and our flawed justifications, you will find flawed justifications. The Bible teaches us our justifications are flawed.

"Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation? Tell me, if you understand. - Job 38:4

Here God question's Job's fundamental ability to understand anything, and presume that he would understand. In our pride, we can claim we know, but if we root out our assumptions, we find how little we do in fact know.

So then for me to justify God to someone is an act of futility ultimately. We can try, but God is the only one who can justify himself. It is only if God uses me that it would be effectual.

You don't want to hold a conversation about it, you just want to bash the Bible. You probably do not even know what the topics are for or about.

Let me know if you want a real conversation and not an annotated version of someone else's writings.

OOOOPS this was supposed to be a reply for Dave Ellis sorry for the confusion

Well I go to this site open up 384 and find this misinformation and nonsense which there seems to be so much of out there.

384. Did Jesus say, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up"?
Yes he did.
Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? But he spake of the temple of his body. John 2:19-21
No he didn't.
Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death; But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses, And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days. Matthew 26:59-61
And there arose certain, and bare false witness against him, saying, We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands. Mark 14:57-58

In Yes he did. It tells you at the end. The temple he spoke of was his body so he is talking about his crucifixion and resurrection over the 3 days. He is talking about his body and a spiritual temple.

In No he didn't. They are talking about a physical temple. The actual Herod's temple.

So there is no contradiction. They are talking about two different temples.

Of course the temple did get destroyed in 70ad which Jesus had prophecised in Matthew and now there is a Mosk on Judaism sacred head temple site.

God says very clearly that those who seek HIM with humility will find Him (Jer 29:13) Ultimately you will not find God through an intellectual exercise. He is a person, and must be approached as a person. Ask him with true humility and even desperation and He will reveal himself to you. God is Spirit and worshippers must worship him in Spirit and Truth.

I am totally convinced that Jesus is the Son of God and that the Scriptures fully reveal God and His plan. But I can accept that people without the Spirit can NOT KNOW GOD. The scriptures reveal Christ but at the same time only Christ can reveal himself! Christianity is all about coming into relationship with the living God on His terms!

Sometimes God himself witholds revealing himself to people because of pride and arrogance. This is difficult to accept and is frustrating to those who demand evidence. But ultimately, none of us can know God unless he reveals himself to us by His Spirit. Even so-called pastors and ministers often have only a second-hand experience of the knowledge of God, and are powerless to provide a living and convincing testimony that will usher others into the very presence of God.

Rest assured, if your search for God is sincere and your desire is to be free of sin and the deception of pride, He will reveal Himself to you. But if not, it is totally at his discretion, and your efforts to know God intellectually will be fruitless.

Why would Jesus be the exceptional exception?
Because 11 of the 12 disciples who witnessed the risen Lord were willing to die for that. The question is to find a similar case in history where 2 or 3 people are willing to die for the same lie, let alone 11.

Terrorists (and co) don't apply because they only believe, they don't have proof. The disciples however do have proof, either they saw the risen Lord or they lied. And no one wants to die for something they know it's a lie.

The martyr death of the 11 disciples is solid evidence for the resurrection.

Your Bible says that some are .. "" ever learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth".

And this is why you are on a Christian forum giving us your biased opinion.

And the reason you give your opinion is because your God IS your opinion.
And you are not the only one.

So, if you want to solve your issue, then all you have to do is become acquainted with Jesus.
You cant do that living on the internet trying to find someone who hates God and is devoted to voicing his opinion.
And you cant do it reading literature that is devoted to deceit, who are also led by their opinion, as you are led by yours.
See, opinion is a fine thing, but if its has, as in your case, become a substitute for the truth, then that is a sad thing and a dangerous thing.
