Why then are you ignoring the scriptures that I present that shows conflict with your posts and statements? If you are sure these scriptures do not apply to your position, then you must be sure what they DO apply to! What do they apply to?!?!Ignoring scripture is never a good idea, ...
That is completely opposite to the way we understand scripture. You cannot bring down scripture to our understanding. You bring our understanding UP to scripture. I have already posted about this and gave you scripture to support it, but you ignore it. (see posts 191 to 195 http://www.christianforums.com/t7854618-post66921047/?highlight=Job#post66921047 )... I believe the bible is complete and correct so if two scriptures appear to contradict, we must search out there meaning so they do not as they cannot and it must be down to our understanding.
I'll give you some more scripture, and I anticipate you will ignore these as well.
Understanding doctrine is the result of doing God's will. Yes, OBEDIENCE!
John 7:17
If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.
David knew and taught us the same thing!
Psalms 119:100
I understand more than the ancients, because I keep thy precepts
Job, as I have posted many times, also concurs.
Job 28:28 And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.
I asked you a direct question in post #193, and you ignored it. I'll re post it here. "... The Bible, Job in particular, teaches that we must depart from evil if we are to understand. You say we cannot depart from evil because it is impossible. How do you know that your understanding is not out of calibration due to Job's declaration? ..."
I ask again: How do you know?
All I have presented demonstrates that works yields understanding. You claim to understand Grace. Grace alone, negating our works, negates understanding Grace. Perhaps the OP should be satisfied as to why Kimball said Grace alone is of the devil. But how can I expect those who do not believe in the requirements of works to understand this?
