I think I'm there too.
Lately I've been having night sweats and insomnia.
more and more headaches.
my Aunt Flo overstays her welcome
I'm having mood swings like a crazy woman.
my joints ache
and i'm tired all the time.

I didn't think I would be experiencing this for another 10years! ugh!

As I understand it (and I may be wrong!) all these symptoms can be exhibited in the peri-menopause which can start up to ten years before the menopause proper. The fun just never ends!

Has anyone heard of taking low dose anti-depresants to offset the hot flashes?

My doctor prescribed me 37.5mg one tablet daily of Effexor to reduce mentopause symptoms. I took it for two nights and yes the flashes were lessened but I did not like the way it kept me up during the night so I stopped taking it. She suggested I take it during the day then but I have not tried. I'm just suffering through them

I have heard of that, but I haven't been to my doctor yet to get anything for my hot flashes. they just started about 3 wks ago.

I'm on Menoherbs II which contain these ingredients:
Wild Yam Root, Black Cohosh Root, Red Clover Leaf, Dong Quai Root, Raspberry, Vitex, Siberian Ginseng, Partridge Berry, Nettle Leaf, Grape Seed Extract.

They seem to have reduced the intensity of the hot flushes by a significant amount. I've had no flushes or headaches for two weeks now but - surprise, surprise -Aunt Flo (love it, marezee!) turned up this morning after a prolonged absence!

Anyway, the alternative route may be worth looking into before diving straight into HRT or just putting up with it.

soy can help too (has other health benefits also)

won't notice a change overnight, but after several months many women find a decrease in symptoms such as the night sweats - it's one of those situations where some say yes it helps and others say no it doesn't

bears discussion with your md/midwife/nurse practitioner

This menopause thingy is about to whip me! I'm going back to the dr. Ive been putting it off because of fear of a biopsy. They wanna diagnose the bleeding issues. What do ya'll know about bio identical hormones? Thought Id see if this might help. Havn't slept in days. sigh getting whiny and grumpy

well...i made an appointment with my gyn for next tuesday. they want to do an ultrasound.
Aunt Flo has been very irregular lately.
I pray that this is just perimenopause, and nothing else!
