I'm finding it hard to get my head around this manipulation thing people talk about. Obviously, some are better looking than others, some have better personalities than others, some are more intelligent than others, some are richer than others. Of course it is all subjective (apart from maybe wealth), but are we saying you shouldn't use your best attributes to your advantage, or are we saying that you are not 'allowed' to use certain attributes? That would be ridiculous, because how do we decide what is fair and what isn't. We aren't all the same, we never will be.

In the case of a popular stereotype, pretty young girl gets married to a wealthy old man, who exactly is manipulating who? Most relationships are mutually beneficial otherwise there wouldn't be a relationship, and it is not really mine or your place to decide what is 'right' and what is 'wrong'. If you really feel your own relationship isn't 'right' then I can only suggest talking about it, and if that still doesn't help, cutting your ties.

Now if we are making an argument against people being deceptive, then you might have some sort of case.
