Firstly a covenant is made between parties, much like a contract. The Mosaic covenant was made between God and Israel. The New Covenant was made between God and Jesus.
The whole book of Hebrews is about replacing the old with the new.
Some specific scriptures are:
Luke 22:20 In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you. NIV
2 Cor 3:6 He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant- — not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. NIV
Heb 9:15-18 For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance — now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.
In the case of a will, it is necessary to prove the death of the one who made it, because a will is in force only when somebody has died; it never takes effect while the one who made it is living. NIV
You will see many references in the NT about the law being abolished and no longer operative for Christians.
I hope this helps.
