Can I add to this? When I read on it, the true cross itself was taken by muslims during the 3rd Crusade . . . and no one really knows where it is . . but there are fragments that remain . .

Peace in Him!

You can always add.:)

Well if you're right about about that happening to the Cross, it's truly sad.

I've heard this too. There is a monastery in Fort Myers FLorida that has a little piece of the Holy Cross, along with relics of St. Constantine and St Helen. It was amazing to be in the presence of the Precious Cross.

St Helena brought the cross to Rome, along with shiploads of earth from Jerusalem. (Her son was emporer Constantine, and he could make things 'happen'.) A site directly next to the wall of Rome was excavated and the earth was placed in this excavation. A Church was built on that earth. It is called "the Basilica of the Holy Cross in Jerusalem". A special chapel was constructed for the relics which included the cross, some spikes, parts of the crown of thorns, a barely legible wooden plaque with the words of Pilate, etc. There is very little left of the cross.
