The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness. - Luke 11:34

The light of the body is the eye. Lets examine the anatomy...

Retina - Photo receptors. Rods and cones to see black, white, and colored images.

Lens - Light goes through the lens. The lens has got to continually change shape so it can focus images to the retina

Iris - Controls the amount of light getting to the retina

Cornea - A lens which the light goes through. Needs organic nutrition called tears to keep it lubricated and from preventing dry eye. Very sensitive and will involuntarily command the eyelid to shut.

Optical nerve - Transmits information from the retina to the brain.

The mind - Takes images and makes sense of the input and stores the visual information. The mind also takes these images and builds imagination.

Imagination - What allows the atheist to sit and imagine terrific scenarios.

In a computer text information is stored in bytes, a work processor uses kilobytes, a single visual image in 10x kilobytes, sound files in megabytes, and video files in 100x megabytes. And we need a good deal of processing ability to come up with those video files.

For the mind to reason and create imagination takes a great deal of processing ability. Not to mention storage capability to store such data.

Evolution? I don't think so!

As Sarah said, this has been known for a long time.

Here is a good article on Wiki about it
Evolution of the eye - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

You know, it really helps to do a little simple research before posting. Many times, it can help keep you from looking foolish.

Great example of an argument from incredulity.

How do the eyes produce the correct organic chemistry for the cornea to keep the eyes lubricated? Speaking of eyes... How is it that the retina is in perfect placement in relationship to the lens so it can see and focus images? Without intelligent design these things would not have taken place!

again with the incredulity...

Fyi: it's called natural selection

Does it also require a blind spot?
Yes natural selection. That's what it does... Making systems better.

It takes conscience thought to make a system better. It also takes reason to make a selection... Intelligent design!

It takes a lot of chemistry for light to...

1. Go through a lubricated cornea
2. Muscles to coordinate the lens to project the image to the correct spot on the retina
3. The chemistry that fills the eyeball must remain clear
4. Chemical reactions that occur on the retina
5. The brain to make sense of all of that, which receives the images upside down.
6. The visual sensory memory bank so that the brain can refer the image to an object.
7. For an imagination to occur!

The brain then tries to put into reality the images it is receiving from the retina. Is imagination reality? As in Plato's Republic, we are like prisoners in a cave trying to make sense of the images laid before us on the wall...

Having a prisoner released, venturing to the great outdoors reflects the gaining of knowledge, having seen the sun and the great outdoors reflects to the understanding of reality. This is reflected in Plato's Doctrine of the Divided Line...

Not all of those systems have to be in place in order for there to be a functional eye. That's what you keep ignoring.

The lens projects the image onto a hemispherical surface, with a blind spot in the middle of it. It needs some fairly fancy data processing by your brain to get a usable image out of that.

Evolution is a fact my friend. It's not a theory, denying it is like saying 2 + 2 doesn't equal 4. As Christians we have to stop being so defensive when it comes to science. Look at it this way, the Bible is sort of the macro study of God's creation, it gives us a degree of understanding of how God works when it comes to things we couldn't possibly figure out explanations for by ourselves. Science is like the micro study of God's creation, it's a direct explanation of things we can understand on, a direct explanation of how God's creation works. Science is beautiful because God is beautiful. We live in a world FULL of purpose, everything is connected in life, a purposeful event must have started a world full of purpose. Looking up at the stars and knowing that the atoms that make up my body were part of the same stuff that was present during the formation of those stars makes me overwhelmed with awe of God's glory. Knowing that the grass I walk in and that every living thing shares 99% of the EXACT same genetic coding in their DNA is a deeply spiritual experience and bond we have with all of God's AMAZING creation. Human being's are obviously different, we're made in God's image, meaning that we like God have free will and the ability to create. We're the only organisms on earth that have those abilities. Sure a bird can make a nest or and an ant an anthill, but that's because it's programmed into their DNA where they just know how to do that. Human beings can create a bridge, beautiful cities, design websites like this. Sure we can teach an ape how to do sign language, but an ape's NEVER asked a question. It doesn't have free will, it actions are based solely on instinct, like every other organism besides human beings. Genesis describes how man usurped God from his throne and decided to take his place. Maybe this describes how our species engaged in a mutiny once we hit where we are now on our evolutionary track? How we chose to stop taking part in God's perfect plan for creation and go off and do our own thing. Just food for thought. The Bible begins with a perfect Garden of Eden, and ends in Revelation with Heaven, which is described as a perfect city. We advance from a garden, to a city—a city for those who put God back in his rightful place, people who created and lived FOR HIM and according to his will. Jesus is God, and Jesus spoke in parables during his time on earth. If He and the Father are one, and they are, why would it be strange for God to speak to us through the Bible in the same way? The Bible is true. But the truth shouldn't be seen in the EXACT content of books like Genesis. The truth is in the message that the narrative reveals. God bless my friend!

In many people, including me, it isn't anywhere even close to being in perfect placement. Without glasses or contacts, I can't see more than three inches in front of my face clearly.

If something is incredible, shouldn't it be met with incredulity?

BTW, natural selection is just another word for magic.
