The scripture clearly states that Cain was the son of Adam.

Genesis 4:1
And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the Lord.
I used to read it that way too but when you include verses 1 & 2 you get a bigger picture. What happened was
1. Adam had sex with Eve
2. Eve conceived Abel.
3. Eve gave birth to Cain first.
4. Then she gave birth to a second baby, Abel.

Why did Eve say she had gotten a man from the Lord? Well we know she didn't mean in the way that the virgin Mary became pregnant, but she knew that God was the source of all life.

as we talk about myths, lets add this one,

"
When the first man, Adam, saw that he was alone, God made for him a woman like himself, from the earth.God called her name Lilith, and brought her to Adam. They immediately began to quarrel. Adam said: “You lie beneath me.” And Lilith said: “You lie beneath me! We are both equal, for both of us are from the earth.” And they would not listen to one another.

As soon as Lilith saw this, she uttered the Divine name and flew up into the air and fled. Adam began to pray before his Creator, saying: “Master of the universe, the woman that you gave me has fled.” God sent three angels and said to them: “Go bring back Lilith. If she wants to come, she shall come, and if she does not want to come, do not bring her against her will.

The three angels went and found her in the sea at the place where the Egyptians were destined to drown. There they grabbed her and said to her: “If you will go with us,well and good, but if not, we will drown you in the sea.”

Lilith said to them:”My friends, I know God only created me to weaken infants when they are eight days old. From the day a child is born until the eighth day, I have dominion over the child, and from the eighth day onward I have no dominion over him if he is a boy, but if a girl, I rule over her twelve days.”

They said: “We won’t let you go until you accept upon yourself that each day one hundred of your children will die.” And she accepted it. That is why one hundred demons die every day. They would not leave her alone until she swore to them:”In any place that I see you or your names in an amulet, I will have no dominion over that child.” They left her. And she is Lilith, who weakens the children of men….

Short answer: no.
William Branham, one of those who taught serpent's seed doctrine explained it this way:

Now I know in answering one question another one is apt to come up, and people ask me, “If Eve fell that way, what did Adam do, for God lays the blame on Adam?” That is simple. The Word of God is forever settled in heaven. Before one speck of stardust was made, that Word (God’s law) was there exactly as it is written in our Bible. Now the Word teaches us that if a woman leaves her husband and goes with another man she is an adulteress and is no longer married and the husband is not to take her back. That Word was true in Eden as it was true when Moses wrote it in the law. The Word can’t change. Adam took her back. He knew exactly what he was doing, but he did it anyway. She was a part of him, and he was willing to take her responsibility upon himself. He would not let her go. So Eve conceived by him. He knew she would. He knew exactly what would happen to the human race, and he sold the human race into sin that he might have Eve, for he loved her.
(An Exposition Of The Seven Church Ages, p104)
By his action, Adam typed Jesus Christ who took our sin on Himself for His love of His bride, the Church ( 2 Corinthians 5:21)
This doesn't explain why if Adam ate of the same tree as Eve (which the Bible said he did) if Eve "eating" the fruit of the tree meant having sex with the serpent (which it does not) that would mean that Adam had sex with the serpent as well, which we know is absurdly untrue.

Eating refers to the sexual act (Proverbs 30:20).

Eating is used in the figurative sense, as a metaphor. There are similar metaphors used in the Song of Solomon.

Jesus when He spoke about eating his flesh and drinking His blood was using eating & drinking as a metaphor for believing His words (John 6:54)

It still means eat and has nothing to do with sex as you can see from the Strong's definitions.

Those who accept serpent's seed doctrine use the Bible ... big difference.

The Serpent Seed Doctrine originates in the Gospel of Philip, not the Bible. It was modern revelations of those listed before that misinterpreted scriptures.

"He who has been created is beautiful, but you would <not> find his sons noble creations. If he were not created, but begotten, you would find that his seed was noble. But now he was created (and) he begot. What nobility is this? First, adultery came into being, afterward murder. And he was begotten in adultery, for he was the child of the Serpent. So he became a murderer, just like his father, and he killed his brother. Indeed, every act of sexual intercourse which has occurred between those unlike one another is adultery."Gospel of Philip

It was first exposed by a early church father in,

"7. But Ialdabaoth, feeling envious at this, was pleased to form the design of again emptying man by means of woman, and produced a woman from his own enthymesis, whom that Prunicus [above mentioned] laying hold of, imperceptibly emptied her of power. But the others coming and admiring her beauty, named her Eve, and falling in love with her, begat sons by her, whom they also declare to be the angels. But their mother (Sophia) cunningly devised a scheme to seduce Eve and Adam, by means of the serpent, to transgress the command of Ialdabaoth. Eve listened to this as if it had proceeded from a son of God, and yielded an easy belief. She also persuaded Adam to eat of the tree regarding which God had said that they should not eat of it. They then declare that, on their thus eating, they attained to the knowledge of that power which is above all, and departed from those who had created them.2973 When Prunicus perceived that the powers were thus baffled by their own creature, she greatly rejoiced, and again cried out, that since the father was incorruptible, he (Ialdabaoth) who formerly called himself the father was a liar; and that, while Anthropos and the first woman (the Spirit) existed previously, this one (Eve) sinned by committing adultery."ANF01. The Apostolic Fathers with Justin Martyr and Irenaeus - Christian Classics Ethereal Library

The Scripture that originally misused for Lilith is
Isaiah 34:14 [Full Chapter]
The wild beasts of the desert shall also meet with the wild beasts of the island, and the satyr shall cry to his fellow; the screech owl also shall rest there, and find for herself a place of rest.

As I said, in my last post, both are myths. I never claimed that Lilith was based on the Bible, and neither is from the Bible.

"Mr. Murray teaches Anglo‐Israelism, which believes that Anglo‐Saxons are the chosen race, and America and Great Britain are the lost tribes of the children of Israel. Murray claims that the northern ten tribes of Israel are “the same tribes that later went north and populated Europe and North America.” (The Shepherd’s Chapel newsletter #148, 2‐91) According to the theology of Anglo‐Israelism, other races are inferior to whites, and usually the blacks and Jewish race are particularly stigmatized. Murray, on the other hand, says that he respects blacks and other races. However, he believes these races were the Adam created on the sixth day of creation in Genesis 1, while the Anglo‐Saxons were another Adam created on the eighth day of creation based on his interpretation of Genesis 2. Hence, there is a definite distinction between whites and non‐whites. Arnold Murray also promotes the literature of other Anglo‐Israelism teachers. The Shepherd’s Chapel Book List, for instance, offers materials by E. Raymond Capt and J. H. Allen.

...

Mr. Murray set an end time date by claiming that the Antichrist would appear by 1981. This prediction, of course, turned out to be false. “Lucifer was taken to the pit…Know from the 2nd chapter of 2 Thessalonians that he shall soon return. The Book of Daniel very clearly states that it shall happen before the year 1981, if you have any understanding at all of the wisdom of the elect in the last days.” (Seed of the Serpent, version taped in 1979) Yet, in spite of his prejudices, false doctrine, and false prophecies, he states, “I am a servant of the living God that carries the end time message, and it’s either time to wake up now, or go down with your boat, friend.” (The Shepherd’s Chapel Questions and Answers period, aired 5‐16‐91)"http://www.equip.org/article/arnold-murray-and-the-shepherds-chapel/

Arnold Murray Shepherd's Chapel failed Prophecies Arnold Murray Shepherd's Chapel failed Prophecies

"He predicted that the war of Armageddon will start on June 8-9, 1985 in "a valley of the Alaskan peninsula."

The Bible plainly tells us what is expected of Christian leaders:

An elder must be blameless...[8]
For the overseer must be blameless as one entrusted with God’s work...[9]
The overseer then must be above reproach...[10]
And these also must be tested first and then let them serve as deacons if they are found blameless.[11]

William Branham portrayed himself as a simple, honest, uneducated man who was sent from God as a prophet to fore-run the second coming of Christ. However, many of the stories that he told have been proven to be untrue and many of the doctrines that he said he received directly from God were, in fact, plagiarized from other ministers. If you click on the individual items below, they will take you to a detailed explanation of each issue.

  1. Did William Branham visit the Vatican and see the inscription "VICARIVS FILII DEI" above the throne of the Pope?
  2. Did William Branham lie about his prophecy regarding Billy Graham?
  3. Did anyone hear the voice on the Ohio River in 1933?
  4. Did William Branham see a mother eagle carry her babies on her wings?
  5. Why did William Branham say that he was under the cloud when they took its picture, when he clearly wasn't?
  6. Did William Branham travel around the world seven times?
  7. Was William Branham's Bible saved miraculously in the 1937 flood?

Thank you, Daniel Marsh.

"The serpent seed doctrine is a belief based on poor biblical interpretation and superstition. It is a primary doctrinal resource for those who want to use Scriptures to justify racial prejudice. The serpent seed doctrine is also closely related to other erroneous beliefs such as the Christian Identity Movement and the Kenite doctrine. Like many false beliefs, it has a built-in defense mechanism; that is, anyone who disagrees with it is accused of being a son of the serpent. One of the most unfortunate problems with the serpent seed doctrine is that it so heavily relies on prejudice and warped biblical interpretation that it can be very difficult to discuss rationally."

I know there are many people who disagree with William Branham and that's ok, I don't completely agree with some Bible teachers either. What you would agree with I'm sure is that we are saved by a personal faith in the death & resurrection of Jesus Christ - that was the heart of what Branham preached. He also often said there are genuine Christians in all denominations.

It is interesting to discuss doctrine but I don't spend time trying to personally discredit anyone because I've discovered what is said second hand about someone is very often wrong.

When discussing the serpent's seed doctrine I only ever use the Bible. Either Adam & Eve ate a literal fruit like an apple, or it was an unknown act of disobedience, or it was a sin that made them realize they were naked. I know what makes the most sense to me. I think I will leave it at that.

It still means eat and has nothing to do with sex as you can see from the Strong's definitions.
There are many Christians who have never heard of serpent's seed doctrine who regard the "tree of the knowledge of good & evil", the "fruit", and "eating" as metaphors for disobeying God's Word.

I suppose it is similar to the old argument of whether the word "day" in creation means 24 hours.

First you have to decide whether you believe in two literal trees with literal fruit. That is difficult to maintain given the descriptions and context: "the tree of knowledge of good and evil" and "the tree of life" had fruit that could make you wise or make you live forever (Genesis 3:22). A literal fruit could make them live forever? That is not consistent with the rest of Scripture.

And then you have the Revelation context: "the tree of life" is mentioned three times in Genesis and three times in Revelation. Would you argue the tree of life in Revelation is a literal tree?

What you makes think it isn't???
