  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

To be honest, I'd have to disagree with the whole, "Don't put a T rating on Zelda!"
I really don't think anything will change at all with a T rating, and could in fact give Nintendo a little more canvas to work on.
Isn't it more stifling them? They have no intent of making it more adult, they love making it fun and "kiddy."

Thats what they want to do. Making them put subject matter that they really don't want to add would only mold there creativity. Not allow it to grow, but give it limitations.

Well, they can still make it "kiddy" with a T rating on it.
It's not making them put in anything. The rating is added after the game is made, so they're not bound by it. I'm just saying that a T rating wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing.

There is absolutely no possible way at this time I will acknowledge a T rating limits a game in subject matter. Defend your point, Felron!

Another point to add, if "they" love making the games so much the way "they" want to, why don't they just make a game, send it down to the vault and get right to work on the next one. Cut out all this audience stuff, who cares about the players anyway?!

Nintendo basicly has an ideal for Zelda. Same with the rest of there games.

They don't rely on story, or characters to sell there games (though they end up being lovable). Its all in the game play.

Plus, screwing over your original fanbase is rarley a good idea. Giving Link a voice for example. People have there on view on Link, Nintendo doesn't want to give it one because it could ruin other peoples view of link, and how they imagine him.

I consider all those things part of the game play...

Right. So don't make a game that is not interesting to them.

Game play is more the controlls, and the places you go, how long it takes, us it fun to get there? ect.

But Nintendo's main fan base expects a same kind of game. Nothing heavy or a brain strain, just a enjoyable game you can just breeze though and have fun with.

This also gets a younger crowed. Wich will continue to grow with the games.

How many Master Swords has Link aquired now? That's just fricken boring.

But anyway, Wind Waker was cel shading because they wanted a simple attractive style but also wanted Link to show off emotions well, which they pulled off. If the new Zelda has a more mature rating I think it's a good thing, much more you can do with a game depth wise. Hope noone here cries at the sight of blood at all...

Why the need to put blood in it? Just make it harder than Wind Waker, please!
(One of the criteria for the ratings is the difficulty of the game.)
heh, Zelda has never been hard. They keep it mainstream with a easy difficulty. Its not like it really takes away from the game much anyway..

I liked the Master Quest idea for Ocarina of Time, but it meant buying another game, just to get a more difficult setting!
Perhaps some sort of difficulty setting should be introduced?

lol. I said that many posts ago, but whatever.

I agree with no more heart pieces, or a VERY limited amount (4 in the entire game, maybe, to equal 1 additional heart) Wind Waker would have been better with a maximum of 3 to 5 hearts total for the whole game.

I think finding heart pieces is a good thing. Searching for heart pieces adds alot of gameplay without the necessity of more dungeons (though the more dungeons, the merrier!). It's side stuff that I think is fun, and gives you something to keep doing even after the game is beat.

This brings up a point. What do you mean when you say "harder"? Whenever somebody says they want a game to be harder, I always thought they meant harder puzzles to figure out. I would have to say the original Zelda game was pretty hard (though it's been forever since I've played it)! If you equivalating hardness with life, I guess that you mean hardness is determined by how difficult it is to kill your enemies? On that scale, the Myst games would be a piece of cake! :D

What I love about the Zelda games is they're more about figuring out puzzles than killing things. Actually, the puzzles have gotten so easy that I'm afraid we're loosing that. That's another reason why I don't see a point in making the games all gory. You can pick up any game and have it be about killing things. Zelda is about problem solving and saving the world!

Yeah, I meant the puzzles. They were far too easy in Wind Waker. Plus, they dumbed down the sense of "Where do I go now?"

Yes I agree with that. Navi killed the "Where do I go next" in Ocarina of Time just as much or more as the boat did in Wind Waker. They need to take out the characters that tell you all the answers.
