  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In terms of entertainment value, they are okay. But they are based on bad theology. A delusional Scottish housewife invented the concept of the "rapture" in 1830. It was later embraced by John Darby and C.I. Scofield, despite the fact that it's no where to be found in the first 1800 years of Christian theology.:sigh:

I think these books could potentially be dangerous for people not well-grounded in orthodox Christian theology preached from the time of Christ.

i personally don't believe in the rapture, but you're right in how many will be swayed into that thinking through the books, especially how one of the co-author is actually a theologian. But the books are a very sharp reminder of God's return and our behaviour in a christian life.

BTW, what is the latest LB book? i've sort of lost track of it.

They are good FICTION books. When reading them you have to keep in mind that the "rapture" is a fictional event as it is NOWHERE mentioned in the Bible. The book of Revelation is the blueprints for the Mass, I believe. This was known by the early Church fathers and a book was written on it called The Last Supper I believe. The exact title of the book and author elude me at the moment but I know that he converted to Catholicism from Protestantism and was a Protestant ministor before becoming Catholic.

I think I've read 8 of them, then completely lost interest. Bad writing, bad theology. I do, however, credit them for indirectly moving me completely away from futuristic beliefs and into historicism.

I haven't found anything to fill up the void in Christian fiction writing, so I went back to Christian non-fiction, and my secular books for fiction needs.

I have read 1-30 of the kids and i picked up the two latest 31 & 32.
I have gotten to the part where Hattie stands up against Carpathia and he sends fire down on her. I will read the Adult series when i am through with this.

Even if you are an adult, still try to read Left Behind: The Kids series too.
They both have different points of view(because of the kids) but sometimes the kids talk with some of the Adult Trib. Force. And the kids also know Ben Judah personally.

These books are so addicting. I can't stop reading them.....lol....

I haven't read them, I don't plan on it either. The series seems to go on forever. How many are there 237?;)

I don't want to invest that much time in one series when there are so many other great things to read. Besided, I have always found the end-times stuff boring. Sorry for being a wet blanket.

The Left Behind books tell us about the return of Christ but they have the cart before the horse. The bible simply does not teach a pre-tribulation rapture of the church. Jesus said that the church would be raptured after the tribulation(a time of great persecution against the church). When Christ returns to rapture the church it will been seen by the whole world. I think that it is sad that Lahay and others who read the bible and know better insist on teaching their desires rather than the bible.

Ok i just have to say they are fiction books. Fiction means not true. No one really knows what is going to happen in the future especially on Judgement day! Yeah it does say stuff in Revelations but everyone takes it different ways. I like the books and i know that its their point of view and that is why its fiction. You are not suppose take fiction as true. Just like any other fiction book you read. Plus you are not to worry about the future or the past just the present.
