Would I be wrong to say, "this younger generation of citizens is on the threshold of a richer, freer, and more exciting life than any time in history?" Modern technology feeds these expectations from a cornucopia of gadgets which for the most part are trivial in themself; nevertheless they serve as a symbol of progress; seem to fill the void in empty lives; and feed the appetites of this adventurous youthful and middle aged society. As soon as one fad loses its freshness, another is provided, until one day the only thing distinctive about these technological gadgets will be their similarity.
The principal ingredients for this liberal carefree cocktail are --- beer, micro-chips, and sporty cars; its an ongoing mobile party! The chasm which once separated parents from their children seems to have narrowed, and now the middle aged can play the same games as their children.
Men and woman who grew up in the post World War era could never understand those raised in the sixties and seventies, and on it went into the 80s and 90s; that is, until now! The young and the old are running wild, and all are headed in the same direction!
The structure appears never to vary as youthful ecstasy reaches it height with a montage of dancing legs, strumming guitars, spilled beer, and bright lights; all followed by one horrendous hangover and when one party ends, their already making ready for the next. But one day the horse will throw its rider, and he wont get up. Why do they do it? Its a fist fight we cannot win; there will be no heros left to rescue the drowning lady.
Our society is not feeling growing pains, but the pangs of death from its intended immoralities. The now generation; the IT people have a deep rooted skepticism of God. How long will He look the other way? How long will the Captain of the host of heaven hold back his armies?
Mans desire is to reach upward, to merge his earth with the glories of heaven. But he knows nothing of the grim reaper that lurks in the shadows, waiting patiently for a doomed race; a people torn by their inner most conflicts having nowhere to go.
Are we to wait for one more spring? Have we become bewildered diehards, the creators of special effects, persuading ourselves that all is well? Let us not burn down our bridges in order to keep the fires of the furnace going.
For ours is a much different story, unlike the traditional ones, it has a much happier ending, one that finds the bride in the arms of her lover, and a marriage having been sealed with a kiss.
