The issue of fermented wine.

The bible nowhere prohibits the use of fermented wine in moderation. It does speak much on the abuse or excessive use of wine, which leads to drunkenness. This is totally forbidden by God.

The only way to fit the prohibition of fermented wine use for us today is to understand that we are all priests of God in full time service to the Gospel. A priest, while in service to God, was prohibited from drinking fermented wine not because fermented wine use was prohibited in general.

Under the new covenant, deacons back then were allowed to drink fermented wine in moderation but in today's world, alcohol use is in the forefront of social gatherings, sexual immorality, crime and a very powerfull, worldwide, perverted and godless entertainment world and is one of the leading causes for destroying lives. This is something God's people of old did not experience.

We, as today's ministers of God, should abstain from all things that can lead a weaker brother to stumble and even things that appear evil because of the present evil age we live in. This should be presented as new light for a higher standard for God's people living in today's society. In this, there would be no reason to tweak the Bible to fit a health message.

Abstaining from animal products.

The bible nowhere teaches prohibition of eating meat. But in today's society, there is a high demand for meat products and food in general. because of this, short cuts, steroids, pesticides, preservatives and the unhealthy living conditions of thees animals for the purpose of being able to produce food in mass quantities has caused many health concerns for God's people today. God, because of his love for us, has brought all this to light but not for the purpose of condemnation, but for the purpose of experiencing the abundant life and the joys of living healthy.

yep, that are some key issues...

Personally, what I think the saddest thing about it is, that SDAs will enforce these rules (not the necessarily the meat agenda), but as far as drinking is concerned, they may even refuse to baptize somebody if he doesnt want to stop drinking (in moderation that is). So they will simply talk him or her into it, and he or she will have to vow on it, thats some serious mindgame IMHO
