I wrote here awhile ago that Brett and I were considering finding a new church family. We were going to try and stick with our current church because they were sponosoring us in our Emmaus walk - since we are changing walks it looks like my dad and stepmom are going to sponsor us and if they do we are going to make a clean break from the church that I have been attending for the last 11.5 years.

We came to this after prayer, talking with my father (who is the pastor I trust most in this world), and by looking at the church. The church I am leaving wants me to fix its problems, which I can not do. The church I am leaving had more people in at one time at my wedding than it has had in nearly 3 years. The church we are leaving is hard to walk into because they are so clearly divided. The church we are leaving is falling apart - I tried to help save it but I was unable to even get a small new program going to get people to become more involved - because everyone was so divided. The current church has things for two groups - children and (no offense) old people. Brett is 23 and I am 20 we need something that aims at us!

So we are moving to a new church (Fellowship United Methodist) that I am really excited about. This chruch has a lot of the old members that left New Providence UMC, this church has things that cater not just to young married couples but for military couples, and so much is offered that I am excited about. Please pray for Brett and I after this weekend (we are going to my dad's for an early birthday celebration) we are going to try this new church - please pray that the spiritual blessings we seak are there! :prayer:

Thanks everyone!

I have recently changed churches. It is tough walking into a new church. I will pray that things go great and you get lots of blessings from it.

PEACE IN THE INNER ROOM

THE UPSET

There are those who were hurt, upset, even harmed by events here the last day or so and once previously. No wonder some are lamenting: "What happened to The Inner Room? It used to be a place of peace and sanctuary. Now that's being destroyed."

Not if I have anything to say about it! And I DO!
smiles.gif
I've said to leadership that GOD led me to start this thread, and I will NOT give it up without a fight!!

WHY?

What do we need to do? Well problems have been caused just by one or two people. Compared to so many others of us that here we can't keep track of everyone any more, right! So are we gonna feel bad and just give up? No, NO, NO!!! That's NOT God's way. We are involved in a war, and you get bruised and bloodied in wars! *sad* Same for the 'fair dinkum' Christian.

PEACE

Some have said they came here for peace. Well me too! But what's the source of peace? Being with other Christians where we look out for each other, and where love and care abound, right? Right on!! But why IS that? Why/how does that happen? The answer is within us, where dwells/lives/abides God the Holy Spirit Himself, meaning that within us is love, joy, PEACE, and much more.

Here God spells this out - one fruit, one Spirit - as a PROMISE to us by God. And wow, let's look at all the goodies that are IN that fruit!!!

Galatians 5:
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

PEACE in The Inner Room comes from just one place: The Holy Spirit IN each one of us. And what else? Well, how much love do we have for each other? How longsuffering are we? How kind are we? How gentle? We have ALL of these too in the Fruit of the Spirit! Are we LETTING the Holy Spirit bring these out in the our posts? Are we??

ANYTHING ELSE?

Supposing that we're doing all of the above - and we certainly need to be! - is there more? Or is that the whole picture? No it's not. We will keep getting hurt and upset unless and until we see the other side of the coin! And this is what will help us most, as we try to cope with the sort of thing that's been happening recently in the thread. And will help you in your personal Christian life too!

PEACE IN THE INNER ROOM

See Previous Post

PLEASE DO TAKE YOUR TIME TO WORK THROUGH THIS MESSAGE!

JESUS' PROMISE

We love God's promises, don't we? We want all the blessings from Him that we can get. Some people just about seem to be hooked on promises of blessing!

Jesus told His disciples to wait in Jerusalem for the coming of the Holy Spirit from the Father. This was Jesus' promise and blessing to them - and to all of us since! And what a blessing!! Inviting the Holy Spirit to be in us brings the nine wonderful things in the Fruit of the Spirit that we looked at from Galations 5, including PEACE, and also bringing us His POWER that we simply have to have in order to be able to live the Christian life - and much more!

MORE PROMISES FROM JESUS

We have the promise of PEACE - which is within us, and makes The Inner Room work as well as it does! But what happens when the peace is shattered there? What do we do then? Should we panic? Rather makes you feel terrible, hey? Should we feel like we cannot handle it any longer? Perhaps even LEAVE?

POSITIVE or NEGATIVE?

Well, Jesus has other promises that will help us. I wonder if you've noticed something interesting in the Western church? We very much tend to love 'positive' promises - the ones that promise us something good, i.e., something that we consider good and desirable.

Okay, I get that. But what about all the other promises? If we MISS these, then we're only living 'half' of the Christian life - and I wonder could this explain why so many of us STRUGGLE so much and for so long with living as a real Christian?

Okay, let me dive straight in here, so you can see the wonderful "other" part of Christianity. Here's something else Jesus promised us:

Matthew 10
34 Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword.

Oops, don't like THAT sort of promise, do we? But so our life can really, REALLY WORK as a Believer we HAVE to see this - and make CERTAIN that we see it GOOD!

HOW IT WORKS!

Jesus promised we'd have peace WITHIN us. So that's settled! But He also promised that we would have un-peace (disquiet, disharmony, even fightings and war!) AROUND us. Please make certain that you've well and truly GOT this!

Okay, which is stronger? The world's lack of peace that's all around us and which we CANNOT get away from? Or the Holy Spirit's peace in our hearts? Silly question, right! Obviously the Holy Spirit is going to win hands down!

WHAT DO YOU WANT?

BUT... only when we LET Him... plus only when we understand that it's NORMAL to have disharmony around us!!!

ball,flash,red-green.gif
You want harmony and peace around you all the time? Not gonna happen! Jesus promises the sword! - not peace around us!!!

ball,flash,red-green.gif
You want harmony and peace within you all the time? You got it! Jesus promises this via the Fruit of His Spirit within us, ALWAYS!!!

AND THE PEACE IN US ENABLES US TO HANDLE THE UN-PEACE AROUND US! How fantastic is THAT!! Bless His Name in all the earth for that blessing beyond measure! So what should we do? Well, don't get upset. Don't feel hurt. Don't think that you can't handle it any more. Don't run away. COS IT'S NORMAL! God promises it!!

YES, LIFE CHANGING!

This can and should be nothing short of Life-Changing to a lot of folks! We're normally not taught that the Christian life is not easy. It's hard. And there are piles of other 'hardship' promises! He had a really tough time here - and said we would have the same!

God has changed my life cos He helped me to recognise this, AND let Him bring hardships into my life, AND let Him teach and train and grow me by them. Wow! Want a better day-by-day Christian life? - then I can tell you that this is one way to victory! (NOTE: don't go looking for hardships! Let Him bring them, cos He knows what and when, okay!)

And what brought this to the forefront and me to write this Message? The difficulties in the thread in recent time!!!

May God bless you with His wonderful life-changing promises - starting today!

Morning,! God has given me a new day and a fresh start! He is good.Just had to 'refocus' my gaze. He keeps reminding me...

Victory victory shall be mine...victory victory shall be mine...if I hold my peace let the Lord fight my battles, victory victory shall be mine...

Thank You Lord for reminding me.
Ah...isn't that a wonderful thought?! A fresh start every day. :) Of course pressing on and not looking back is very hard to do, but to know that with God every day is new is comforting.

Good morning everyone.
I hope that today is a good day (hmm...morning/afternoon/evening/night :) ) for you all.
God bless you.

Amanda...praying that as you move forward the Lord will bless you and Brett.

Bondman...you hit the nail on the head. :D

:amen: :amen: :amen:

Your second post is about something that I remind myself of often. Never has the Lord ever promised us that this life would be easy...BUT...no matter what we are going through, He has always promised to be there for us. :) And of course your first post goes back to what we were all talking about at the beginning stages of the IR...allowing Him to live through us. Giving us His love, His joy, His peace, His everything. :)
God bless you...and your lady.

Thank you Bondman for that word today! You are so right! Sunday Morning Christians are the ones that seem to have no battles, always having a relaxed easy walk.
The deeper spirit filled Christian, that prays without ceasing and feels deeply for the furtherance of the kingdom, is the one that bears the battle scars. The Christian that has their heart pulled when someone is hurting and hastens to pray for them is the one that is weary from holding up their neighbor's burden. The Christian that would lay down his life for his brother or sister is the one that holds the breath inside them that screams out the battle cry against the enemy.
I rather like being a little scarred, weary and out of breath. Then I know that I am where I am supposed to be and doing what HE wants me to do.
I praise You Father for the fight. I am Yours and You are mine!

Praise You Father!

Yep, and a warrior you are! I praise God for you my dear dear friend. I love and appreciate you more than you know. I have a sense of peace today, I haven't had in a few weeks. I praise God for that. I know you have 'something' for me. You can PM me or email. I am headed out with my darling son to get a gift for his girlfriend for her birthday. So, will check back later. Just know that I am in an ok place emotionally.

Thank you Bondman, you spoke to me.

I was thinking about quitting this thread, but you're right, we can't run away from every trial. Perhaps there's a reason why our peace is being threatened - perhaps its to show us (ME!!!) how easy it is to get thrown off track. If we are to be strong in Christ, let us be firmly planted. Let us have peace in our hearts that is unshakeable. Let us be true warriors and examples of God's love.

Okay.

I'll be gone for a few days not because I'm off pouting or quitting. I'm at our annual family reunion at the beach!!:)

Take care everyone. Love to you all!

First thank you to everyone for their prayers =) change is not one of my favorite things but I feel that I am being called to change in this area of my life and so I am following my God.

Second - BM I agree with everything that you have been saying - I would say that of late what has bothered me most is seeing those I have come to care for hurting because of others and I want to take a moment to say now if I have ever hurt you I am sorry I never would hurt you on purpose and second if someone hurts you and you want someone to talk to that won't run and tell the world what you said - if you want someone to pray with you for peace or anything for that matter PLEASE feel free to PM me. It can be as general or as specific as you want and I will pray for you and with you. Please do not be afraid to come to me! I am on CF multiple times every day and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

God bless you all!

I've said to leadership that GOD led me to start this thread, and I will NOT give it up without a fight!!

I see there are pages and pages after just a day or two! From what you said, I'm not sure if there is any reason to go back and read it all! I hate to think I missed a prayer request, or some good news though. I don't even want to bother if there has been bickering and strife. I pass right over it. Life is too short, God's call to strong, to let that slow me down. I'm here to build relationships and to encourage, bringing the Word of God as a light and as nourishment for all.

I'm a bit overtired after only 4 hours of sleep, and 6 the night before. I've been blessed to have fellowship with someone IRL that drove here to see me, someone I met on CF. It was great, but I'm tired now, and can't spend 2 hours reading everything. I hope you all will understand. Then, I have my own thread to keep up, and it seems everyone has left it. :( Geesh! I better stay on the job more! ^_^

Thank you Bondman, you spoke to me.

I did go back enough to see you are going to a new church. I pray the Lord makes it evident, more and more that this is the place He has you two.

I've missed any news on Brett and your brother, the things we were praying for.

Just so you all know, I got accused and torn apart in another area thread for following a certain person around the forums. I am leaving these threads..ALL the fellowship area and maybe even the site. I do NOT need this kind of drama and nonsense in my life. Sorry folks..but this is just TOO much.

We don't need it either. You came in and snidely accusing someone of lying and faking it. Then claimed Gee, what makes you think I meant them. You have problems, Good luck.
Whoa! Stop!

Can we pray? :prayer:

Lord, we call upon You to bring peace to HR. Whatever turmoil, whatever accusations, we pray for Your peace to permeate her being. I pray she will release all her cares to You, for You care for her.

Give us all patience with one another, and remind us we must forgive, and we must love. May we show ourselves to be Your disciples, doing Your works.

We love You, Jesus! We love You with our lives and with our actions. We love You more than having our way. We praise You for vindicating us.

Hello to all! I pray that the conflict that has been in this thread is over because I see a lot of loving people who are a great source of support for each other. I know we cannot avoid conflict entirely but we sure can decide that this is a safe haven for us.

I know what it feels like to find a new church to go to. My husband and I desperately needed a good church with a full time pastor and a congregation that feels like family after Josh died. We tried one and it was awful. Then we opened our hearts to the one that God was leading us to and it is everything we need and more. I cannot even begin to identify the blessings and peace this church has brought into our lives. This is the kind of experience I hope all of us get a chance to have.

I don't know if any of you have lost a child but it is an awful experience. I tend to be on a roller-coaster of sorts both emotionally and spiritually ever since Josh died. There are days when I need support and prayer and other days where I can offer strength to others from what has developed in my heart and soul.

I hope to fit in well here and also hope that I have good things to offer the other members who are here. God Bless each and every one of you!!
Theresa
