  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

good reminder ... I am an 'analyzer' myself, and have trouble w/this same question ... feeling that if God loves 'everyone', then i'm just one of the crowd ...

an illustration that has helped me ... someone who made quilts talked abt how she loves each one ... they are all different, but each is special in its own way ...
Your illustration is a good one, and quite useful.

We should accept one another in love, not trying to get anyone to think like us, be like us, etc......

Just love people!

:amen: Just love! Jesus told us they will know us from the love we show:D:D
Yes. Not how right our doctrine is, or how well we can debate. Right doctrine is important, but that is not what identifies us.

(I suppose you are all well aware that there has been strife on some threads on CF. I think Erwin is going to address it somehow in the changes to CF that are coming today.)

Greenthumb><> God will be with you.
Would you been happier just staying where you are doing what comes easily or did you /do you pray for challenge.
My son said it was easier for him to ''Go'' to China than to stay where he was wasting time in an uninteresting & unstimulating job.
Wow...that's a really good question. I think it's definitely safer (or maybe it seems safer) to just stay where you are, but then you'd never grow or learn to trust would you. Because asking God to bring a challenge your way is definitely trusting that He will do what is right for you. It took me a lot of years to realize that God always has my best interest at heart...always. So it is easier to trust no matter what the situation is, even if it is not where I think I should be going or what I think I should be doing (or in a lot of cases what I want to be doing). To answer your question. No, not happier, but definitely more complacent. Although uninteresting and unstimulating jobs aside...God can still use you in that situation...if you let Him. :) I'm glad your son went and I'm sure that God used him well (and is still using him if he is still there). God bless you laterunner...have a refreshing weekend.

Exactly! Because look at the Pharisees. They had the doctrine right down to a tee...but they definitely had no love. :( Let us not be that way.

sad and happy at the same time abt that!
I don't know if I'm happy or sad. I've no idea what the changes are yet. If Erwin's endeavoring to get rid of the strife, I'm very happy.

Coming here is like an oasis in the strife today!
It is wonderful to see the love and care for one another displayed here.

God bless you all very much!
Yes, this is a wonderful thread. Thank you Bondman for facilitating it, and all of you for making it so loving. I avoid the ones with strife, but I like this place!

Hey, gang, as some of you are probably aware, there has been some major flooding in the midwest states. Particularly Oklahoma and Texas. (no, not where I live, other parts of Texas) There is forecast for more rain, too.
Would ya'll lift up the water rescue teams in your prayers? They are getting worn out. Texas Task Force One is already putting the word out that they may be needing replacement teams to give the local teams a break.
My fire department has a water rescue team (of which I am a member) and our chief (hubby) will be putting our dept.s name in the hat.
Lord, we ask for wisdom for the teams and their leaders. That You give them insight and good judgement in making decisions. Father, we ask that You keep all of them safe, warm, well-fed and hydrated and bug bite free. That strife will stay out of the teams that interact with each other and governing entities. Help the leaders of communities be cooperative with the teams that come in from out of town. We ask that you remove all hinderances from doing their jobs. Bless their hands, Lord as they help people get out of dangerous situations. We pray, Lord, that there is no loss of life or limb, to rescuers or victims. Be with them, Lord, guide them as they find the victims and bring them to safety. May thier equipment function as it is designed to do and not malfunciton. May their supplies be more than enough.
Amen.:tutu:

CF CHANGES

Let's stay calm, at rest, and trusting God regarding changes to CF. The 'fuss and bother' in the thread is perfectly normal human behaviour whether we're talking believers or unbelievers. I'm not saying it's all right behaviour - just nothing to be surprised about.

Some people have strong feelings, others are taking the opportunity to 'say their piece' others the opportunity to argue, be nasty, etc. All normal humanity. Please don't allow yourself to be moved. Stay founded on the Rock which is Jesus!

Hopefully The Inner Room will be able to stay the haven it is for those of us who want to be with others who love God, and a place where we can learn and grow - together, helping and supporting each other!

If not, then in the Lord, and only in and by Him, we shall COPE with whatever may come! We're not promised an easy path, just one where He is ALWAYS WITH US! That's where I live, and how I live. Let's stick together, and meantime pray and trust that God will both reveal and protect what HE wants for us - together!

He WILL show us the way - if we put our full trust in Him!!!

God protect and bless us all!!!

- Bondman

EDIT! Any who you may find who seem concerned or upset about the proposed changes, please refer them to this post #116 for the time being. Thankyou!

A father wanted to read a magazine but was being bothered by his little
girl, Shelby. She wanted to know what the United States looked like.
Finally, he tore a sheet out of his new magazine on which was printed the
map of the country. Tearing it into small pieces, he gave it to Shelby ,
and said, "Go into the other room and see if you can put this together.
this will show you our whole country today."

After a few minutes, Shelby returned and handed him the map,
correctly fitted and taped together. The father was surprised and asked
how she had finished so quickly.

"Oh," she said, "on the other side of the paper is a picture of
Jesus. When I got all of Jesus back where they belonged, then our country
just came together."
