CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Does anyone have an opinion on My Morning Jacket? All I know is that they're from Louisville, which is hella-close to where I grew up, so I pretended to like them because of that. Oh, and I guess I enjoy "One Big Holiday", but I've only heard it a handful of times. The thing is, I'm having a hard time pinpointing their sound for a review of their new album. Can anyone offer any help?

I liked their first cd, though I haven't heard the new one. I'm going to try and see them live next month, though.
Their first cd had to grow on me. At first I was kind of luke warm on it... but now I enjoy it well enough.

I think they have a decent amount of southern rock influence, which is mainly heard in the guitars. The vocals on the new cd have alot of effects on them. I shouldn't have taken this one on without having a good grasp on their first cd.

I saw him at a great venue in Newport, Kentucky called Southgate House. It's one of the cooler places I've been too -- though they make a horrible Shirlee Temple. It's an old mansion converted into a concert hall.blackwasp said:That's a good one (of course). Where did you see him?

Awesome. That was the show that Nadroj went to, and the one I initially planned on attending before I decided that Chicago was much more convenient. I missed out on the Fiery Furnaces when they went through in the Spring, but I did some research regarding the venue and it seemed very nice.
