I'm going to start off the new Indie Thread by saying how great the new Kayo Dot album is. Ohmyfrickengollygee!
That's the wrong way to start off the indie thread part deux.

Ass-grabbing is the way to go. It will never go out of style.

Yes...you guys can say "assassassassass" all you want...but I let out one "bastard" and the mods leap all over me like I'm the last rib at a Memphis BBQ.

Also, a friend at work is trying to get me into Broadcast. And I like what I hear so far.

LOL. Apparently, as I read in this link, the Built to Spill album leaked, but the tracks all are sprinkled with "WHO? MIKE JONES!" which I guess is supposed to deter piracy, but I think it's hialrious and I really want to find this version of the album before it disappears from the P2Ps.

I need to pick up something new and exciting and oh so indie-ish. What should I check out, Jacob(s)?

Firstly, don't ask The Theory. ;) Secondly, you'd be better off asking Arnold_Phillips, Jordan, or Phil. But if you want my opinion, you should pick up All Hail West Texas by The Mountain Goats (which was actually suggested to me by AP, so I guess he'd really get the credit). Anyway, "The Best Ever Death Metal Band in Denton" and "Fall of the Star High School Running Back" have been my latest obsessions off that disc. It's not new, but it's exciting. My other excitement as of late has come from M.I.A.'s Arular, if you can get into female hip-hop/electronica. Great beats, though. I really dig it. :)

I had a short correspondence with the guy from UP records last year, and he said the new Built to Spill album was going to be their best to date. I'm sure he's biased, but I'll still do all within my powers to see them in the spring.

seriously, the Kayo Dot album is really darn good.

If you're interested, our local indie store (which is totally incredible, btw) has it for $5. So I wouldn't mind picking it up for you and sending it (with appropriate compensation).

The New Pornographers and Belle & Sebastian are touring together. They will be in Boston a few days after Animal Collective. Let's just say I have an exciting week of shows coming up this February.

And a new guy from California just moved onto my floor this semester and he is really into Sufjan, Danielson, and Animal Collective. I forsee utmost comradery betwixt the two of us.

I should clarify: by "utmost comradery", I mean in a stictly heterosexual way.

Sorry for the confusion.

Besides, I don't want to cheat on Jacob. Our open relationship means too much to me.

Oh man, my heart was sinking before I read this post. Shame on you Jeff for thinking Phil would be unfaithful to me during our open courtship.

Here are some shows I'm thinking about going to:

B&S/The New Pornos (yes!) -- Chicago 3/10
Sigur Ros -- Louisville 2/17
Stars -- Chicago 2/17 (decisions, decisions)
Metric -- Chicago 4/13
Built to Spill (yes!) -- Chicago 4/14

Those are some killer shows. Too bad you'll end up having a little 'accident' on the way, then Phil will be all mine.

I figured you'd try something like cutting my break lines. For that reason, I'll traverse in a different car each time. It's a shame MiS, we could have played grab ass in person.

(decisions, decisions)?!?! What crap is that? There are no decisions when it comes to a Stars show! If it's not sold out, YOU GO.
