Then, why not eat the fattening stuff (a little), and crank the "Jingle bell rock" and "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree", and just dance it right back off?!!!!!! Even the Cosbys chair danced on TV. You can jam anywhere! (Just an idea, it may not be your thing, and that's O.K.)

Seriously, don't be too hard on yourself. The temptations are in abundance right now. Good health isn't about deprivation, it's about burning what you consume, and consuming the bad stuff in moderation.

I didn't get my Starbucks, but I did eat one of those powder-sugared, whipped cream and green sugar sprinkled, mini-doughnut Christmas wreaths I am making for my kid's snack day tomorrow. I HAD to be sure they tasted good!

Well I did good at dinner. Then after dinner we went to my youngest daughters band concert. Afterwards we went for ice cream. I forgot we always go after those. Man I had to have a scoop of icecream, but I didn't have a cone and only ate half of my icecream. So not as bad as I could have been. Now I am going to have some water and get ready for bed.

I just carried two sollid wood, 4 shelf book. shelves and one directors chair in from the car, and WRAPPED All of them before the kids got home from school. The shelves are as tall as me, and just wide enough to get my arms around to the front.

Got my exercize in (and yes, I did have just 1 small mint mocha from Starbucks today:yum: ). I definitely burned that one off.

I am huffed out!

I think dancing around the house is a great idea! I will have to be sure to put the music on at some point.

Don't worry about the back, I am a little chubby, but do weights to keep a strong back (I'm tall, and take an inhaled steroid for asthma, so I am at risk for osteoperosis, so I've been doing weights on and off for years). I also use propper lifting techniques. (No twisting, keep center of balance, and bend at knees on the lift and set down.)

It was more a matter of not smashing my hands in the door as I brought them through.

As far as large gifts, if you could see the stacks of books toppling over in my kids rooms....we are a bookworm family. :) It's not as exciting for them as toys, but it is totally necessary.

I finally started a routine.

The plan is three days a week. Monday, Wednesday, Friday. The idea is to strengthen my granddaughter's back because she tends to have a sway back.

I am doing stretching and weight exercises with her. Of course she is not using weights or using a very light weight. I am starting slow (4kg) and will be working up. I have 8s, 10s, and 15s.

This week we did Wednesday and Friday.

Well, we just got back from walking around the village hand-delivering some Christmas cards. Only walked about a mile in total, but it felt great! Better than delivering them by car, eh? ;)

I wrapped them! BIG GIANT PLASTIC GIFT BAGS that I keep recycling year to year.

The kids are not allowed to touch them, and don't even know which gift is for which kid.

Not that I am promoting dieting in anyway. But yesterday I was going so fast and furious, my lunch consisted of yogurt. I didn't even have time to find a spoon and kinda slurped/drank it out of its container.

Sorry if I'm not on CF very consistently right now, I've just so much holiday prep stuff going on...

HUFFPUFF!

HUFFHUFFPUFFPUFF!

Went skiing 5 times in the last 10 days with my hubby and kids. A little soar, but it was a blast.

We're home now. My exercize today is going to consist of getting all the laundry finished (10 days worth), and hauling the baskets up the stairs.

Still nibbling on the home-made fudge (but the good news is that I didnt' eat it all at once), and I think I will throw that and all of the left over candy away today.

Oh! And Happy New YEAR!

Wow, sounds like you had a fabulous holiday!

I made a concerted effort to get a bit of exercise each day while I was off work over Christmas, and boy, did that help! We spent most of it hibernating in the house, so moving around a bit was essential. One day, my 10-year-old daughter and I spent about an hour making up a dance routine to one of our favourite CD tracks! It was so fun! We performed it for my hubby and son (they weren't that impressed :sorry: ).

WHHHHOOOOHHHHOOOOO!

Making up dance routines with my daughters just may have to be my next family fun "to do", and I don 't think my hubby and son would be all that impressed either...but hey, we love them cuz they are guys, right?;)

whoa, not reading thru this one all the way, as it makes me feel like a lazy slug.
Skiing, whoa, not me!!!

Grace is NOT my middle name.

I live in the stinkin' city....any ideas?
I have to walk today; been too long already!!!

Welcome!

I feel for you. Though I am in a small city in the midwest now, I travelled a lot before kids. I have asthma, and couldn't handle even walking when I was in larger cities if the air was smoggy.

BUT I'm a rythm girl. Dancing, even to a hotel radio, was big on my list. I also liked to workout at clubs that aren't saturated only with teens and twenties who put on their make-up before a workout. I could usually find that at the YMCA's, and you get reciprocity at most Ys across the USA. They usually have great childcare programs for moms too.

Most Ys offer everything from treadmills to basketball courts to swimming programs to yoga.

All ages, abilities, and ethnicities welcome.

Sometimes Ys may be older and not so glamorous though, but hey, that also describes me.

Still using the Y here, when I can.

ALSO don't forget that this site is about doing something you enjoy, for fun, each day, that is healthy. Don't set your own bar based on what others are doing. We all have different comfort levels, situations and abilities!:)

Anyone else who is "IN" the city have ideas for COOLMOM4?

 How about stair climbing in a tall building?

Good idea....I think I would add music to it though, to avoid boredom. Or at least take stairs instead of escalators and elevators wherever you are going anyway.
