The homosexuality issue is apparently about to come to a head in the United Methodist Church, or at least, begin to come to a head. My understanding is that it well be addressed at the General Conference (an event that occurs every four years) in February.

The answer seems very easy: United Methodist pastors will refrain from teaching that homosexuality is not a sin, but the church will welcome homosexuals into their congregations.

Why a group of caring, loving Christians cannot agree to this, I'll never know.

And you are arrogant! Ought you not rather to mourn? Let him who has done this be removed from among you. ~1 Corinthians 5:2

No, homosexuals are certainly not allowed in the fellowship of believers. They are to be shamed.

That sounds good. All churches are for sinners. Christians are there to help them come to know Christ. If we close our doors to those being drawn, how will they become saved? And how will they be set free if we chocolate coat homosexuality as okay.

That quote is about the wife of one's father, not about homosexuality.

NO! Where are they to go to be saved? The bath houses? We are only to shun those professing to be Christians, and still have no power over sin.

And are you also without understanding? You really don't think this applies to homosexuality? When the sin he was seeking to put out was lesser?

You don't go anywhere to be saved.

I'm unsure if that is the answer. Those who advocate for LGBT issues want gay and lesbian pastors (in same-sex relationships) in the church. Their position isn't much different from a secular one.

Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Is the gospel preached in the bath houses? Where is a homosexual to go if they want to hear the gospel and be saved if you won't let them in?

That is the blind leading the blind and they both fall into hell. It is the homosexual pastors that should be shunned, not the seeking sinner.

The gospel is preached in the world. The word of God for the training of the righteous is preached in the church. The church is NOT the place of evangelism but is the place of discipleship of BELIEVERS.

Read my blog post here about the church. It will explain a lot of what we have mistaken in our day:

Part of discipleship is witnessing to the lost. Sunday morning should be for anyone. Who are you in this picture?

9 Also He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: 10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’ 13 And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’ 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

The quote is about sexual sin and how to deal with it in the church of which homosexuality is a sexual sin.

Presbyterians also have gay pastors. What is your denomination doing about it?

Arent a lot of homosexuals professing to be Christian, but have no power over their sin? They can't be saved because they must repent of all sins and take up their cross rather than embracing their sin and saying it's okay.

They are not Christians. A Christian is Spirit-filled. They have the seed of the Spirit in them and 1 John 3:9 says they cannot sin. Calling themselves a Christian is a lie. The first step is repentance unto Jesus. They may say Lord, Lord, but Jesus never knew them.

That doesn't mean we should throw them out of the church if they are not in leadership. Because they are "being saved" whether they've made it yet or not.

I am not actually presbyterian. It was just something I picked. I don't know how to change it. I believe in the word of God. Which denomination is there for that?

The issue is not letting homosexuals come to church as visitors. They should be allowed. It issue is should they enter into fellowship with the church ( become members ) and the answer should be no.
