I agree, Tee.

I am really convicted now that God has equipped us with everything we need.. We don't need more 'tools', like TV commercials tell us we always need more or we don't have enough.. God has given us the Word of God and the power of the Holy Spirit to renew, transform and heal us. Is there anything higher ? Is He not enough? So then what does it mean when we are told that we need to add manipulating energy ?

I feel sorry for all the people who are sick and suffering, it is even more deceiving because they are so vulnerable. The HC's comes off as being very friendly to everyone, no matter what your spiritual belief, so no one's offended. And for those that don't have any spiritual beliefs, the HC's still work without any ! It is a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Psalm 138
1 I will confess and praise You [O God] with my whole heart; before the gods will I sing praises to You. 2 I will worship toward Your holy temple and praise Your name for Your loving-kindness and for Your truth and faithfulness; for You have exalted above all else Your name and Your word and You have magnified Your word above all Your name!

2 Timothy 3:16-17
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Psalm 1:1a, 2-3
“Blessed is the man…But his delight is in the law of the LORD: and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”

OK, so I thought this was the end of this, and here I found this. I could not believe my eyes... Loyd says my beloved Charles Stanley is using the HC's ! I am speechless ..

Amazon.com: Douglas Conrad "Douglas Conrad, LPN , NCAA"'s review of The Healing Code: 6 Minutes to Heal the So...

I would highly encourage you to download the free document on the book site, "the Biblical underpinnings of the Healing Codes". I have had many preachers, elders, board members, and those calling themselves "Christians" who have said what you are saying. I have never, to date, had them continue to say these things after reading that document. I can't tell you how many preachers, etc., I have worked with over the years, and currently, to help them resolve health issues - usually after they read that document and talked with me about those issues over the phone. One of the most recent that this has happened is Charles Stanley, who I have been a fan of for many years.

hi all, would like to add a few comments but they will have to wait till the weekend as i am pressed for time at the moment. Just one thing before i end off: i heard a pastor on sunday mention a well known verse, and what he added to the end of the verse brought my mind back to the HC's. He said " faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God", not by testimonials, he added. God bless

Salavation, I think I have heard Stanley say that a time or two.. lol
He had a radio broadcast on yesterday about deception in the Church and he said in one part "Jesus Christ is my energy". I have never heard him say that. Was he referring to the HC's, or was he speaking out against energy modalities ?

You know, it occurred to me that the author of the HC's makes it seem like just because many pastors like Stanley, have accepted the HC's, that it makes it Biblical. As much as I esteem Stanley, and think he is a great preacher who seems to be the most theologically sound, at the end of the day he is just a man, isn't he ? And he can be deceived, too. Which is why we also read our Bible's, too. We are accountable. We can't hang onto every word they say, and make them like idols or God.. It is the Word of God that we exalt, not man.

So there would be much more to change my mind, which is a conviction, anyway . Afterall, we aren't dealing with a piece of meat here, we are dealing with an unknown source of energy. You can't compare the two..

Studying the subject of God only being a God of Love (which is portrayed by the Healing Code folks:

How can God be just and merciful at once? - explorefaith

EXPLORE GOD'S LOVE
How can the God of judgment and punishment, as often portrayed in the Old Testament, be reconciled with the concept of a God of love?

There is a stereotype of the Old Testament God of fire and brimstone, which usually goes hand in hand with the stereotype of the New Testament God, who is Jesus' benevolent and compassionate father or Abba. A careful reading of scripture will yield a different and more ambiguous picture.

The God of mercy and loving kindness will show up in the Old Testament, and the God capable of wrath and judgment will appear in the pages of the New Testament. It is true that there are far more Hebrew scriptures in the bible, that the Old Testament is larger and represents a much longer period of time than the New Testament, which was written in Greek over a relatively short period of time. There is also a way in which the trajectory of scripture reveals an evolving sense of who God is, how God works, what God hopes for us, and how God responds to our shortcomings.

There is always some truth in a stereotype. The sense of God conveyed in the New Testament is more approachable, in general, whereas the God conveyed in the Old Testament is more awesome, in general. The shift in language and imagery is attributable to Jesus' own sense of God as his Abba, his loving father. Jesus' lively sense of his Abba comes through the Gospels, alongside other passages depicting God the judge and warning of apocalyptic punishment. With such apparent contradictions on the same page, it helps to think of scripture as the receptacle of human pondering about God. Even though inspired, as all our wonder about God is, its view remains incomplete and evolving. God is always emergent in our experience and in history, and so is our reflection and our writing about the mystery of the holy over time.

Within the individual books of scripture, arguments about God are happening, different aspects of God are being proposed, different views of God are being tried. For example, in the prophets, the God of wrath may be invoked to recall the people to repentance in a time of impending calamity. Later, in the same book, the God of compassion may be evoked, to comfort the people, suffering from their own folly and its consequences. In the Gospels, parables which portray God's mercy and loving kindness (e.g. the prodigal son) appear alongside parables of judgment and punishment (e.g. the unjust steward). The internal contradictions of scripture compel us to decide for ourselves and among ourselves about the meaning of their juxtaposition.

Think of scripture as a progressive conversation among seekers after God through centuries and across cultures. Then all the differing points of view can be appreciated, and all the various views of God can be tested against each other and against our experience in a new place and time. Christians are folk who hold themselves accountable to scripture and who hold scripture accountable to the tests of faith they themselves experience. Today's faithful are those who are putting God's promises to the test every day, by trusting them and reflecting upon the results together as life unfolds. It's these faithful today who are having a conversation with yesterday's faithful through their last will and testaments. We will leave ours behind also, becoming part of the stream of scripture and tradition as they did before us.

When scripture and tradition are continually tried and tested in this way, a lively faith results. Assuming that scripture and tradition are resources and navigational aids for our journey in faith, we are not only free to ask questions, but actually held responsible for asking them. How can a particularly provocative passage be true without violating our best sense of God's nature and purpose? Exercising our concept of God in this way produces exciting possibilities, which convince by their paradoxical attraction. It's a little like the fascination of riddles. How can God be just and merciful at once? How does that work?
What if a God of judgment were a good thing? Let's just assume that judgment might be a gift from God, and see where it gets us. For one thing, we'd also have to assume God loved us enough to give us a gift. Then, if we are able to suspend our own judgment long enough to imagine something new and different, we could experiment with welcoming and trusting judgment, learning and growing from it.
Scripture says it this way: repent, turn and live. What if the mechanism of judgment is the compelling figure of Jesus of Nazareth, the perfect picture of a holy and blameless life? What if the dynamic of judgment arises from our attraction to him, our comparison of ourselves to him, and our growing desire to become more like him? In that sense, he is our judgment, our condemnation and our absolution, confronting and forgiving us at once, the measure of our homework assignment.

Punishment, when entertained as a gift from a loving God becomes the inescapability of living with the consequences of our behavior, our choices, our ways of understanding God, ourselves, others, and the world. We shall know by the fruits which are the most life-giving and healing and worthwhile. A violent god, a vindictive god, an arbitrary god of wrath produces cringing devotees intent on blaming each other and appeasing the most high. A loving God who holds us accountable to the consequences of our choices encourages us to grow up and inspires our cooperation as we do so, while providing the grace to confirm our efforts.

Another way to look at this is through the cross. On the one hand, it would seem we were all let off the hook with, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." On the other hand, what a brilliant way to hook us all, when we behold the fullness of our human potential revealed in that generous and undeserved advocacy. By that prayer to his Abba, Jesus displays our meanness and our blindness to it, while simultaneously opening our eyes and ministering to our spirits, giving us a vision of cooperation with God and one another for good. By forgiving our adversaries, we call them into a new kind of relationship, a community relying upon God's grace to make us one.

When we reject the gift and view it as a curse instead, we live in an inhospitable universe, and our punishment is to continue to live in a world bereft of grace. When we accept our "punishment" as a gift from God, our work is cut out for us, and we take up our task, which is to grow into a world defined by the gift itself. Forgiving and asking forgiveness, absolving one another and making amends for the wrong we have done, creates a different kind of person, a different kind of world, a world which Jesus envisioned for us even as we did him in. His parting gift created the resurrection, the newness that grew out of the cross, as God has assisted with grace those who embraced their judgment and punishment as good news and set about making amends.

Each religion has its reference point as to how the benevolence of the Creator enters and has entered the material world of time and space. For Christianity this reference point is Jesus Christ. Since Jesus was a Jew, the Christian tradition includes the Jewish Bible as its Old Testament, and the New Testament—the Christian Bible—is combined with the Old to make the document we know as the Bible. The Old Testament was written from a point of view about Creation and God that comes from a far distant past. These people experienced life as more hardship than pleasure; they did not have the conveniences that we take for granted: running water, indoor plumbing, grocery stores, etc. From their point of view they experienced God as the Creator of this life, and God was therefore a Creator who had a harsh side.

Yet if you carefully examine the pattern of God's involvement with the people of the Old Testament, you will find that God rescued, restored and never abandoned those people. From their point of view, God did disappear, but that point of view was severely limited by the way they experienced life. In short, for Christians the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Moses is the same God that revealed the Divine nature through Jesus. The God of the Old Testament didn't change, humanity's understanding of God evolved over centuries of experience.

Christians believe that God's revelation of God's self has been consistent throughout the Bible and that revelation unveils a God who is benevolent, not capricious or harsh. Life may be harsh and capricious, but that does not mean God is. We all create the lives we live for ourselves, and our behaviors have an effect on others. That goes for individuals, groups, churches, religions and nations. Let's not lay our foul-ups on God; let's take responsibility for them and seek God's aid to re-find the appropriate relational context for all humans. As we do that intentionally, we will find the Creator enabling us in ways that defy human explanation.

Studying the God of many Names:

7 Powerful Bible Names of God with Meaning

October 17, 2013 By Jack Wellman 2 Comments
God has many names mentioned in the Bible. Each one has a particular meaning. What are some of the most powerful names of God and their associated meaning?
ELOHIM – God’s First Name Revealed

The first name that God revealed to us comes in the Book of Genesis. It is ELOHIM and in Genesis 1:1 it refers to the Trinity for ELHOIM is plural and says “In the beginning God [ELOHIM] created the heavens and the earth.” We know this is plural because when God created mankind, He said “Let Us make man in Our own image, according to Our likeness” (Gen 1:26a). Notice that God said let “Us” make man in “Our” image. If there were only One God then He would surely have said, “Let Me make man in My image” but He did not. In fact in the account of creation all Three Persons of the Trinity were involved. God’s name, ELOHIM could be thought of as a family name to give you the idea that there is more than one. My family name is Wellman. We are one family but three persons. Bad analogy I know but it is hoped that you might understand this concept better. ELOHIM is God in Three Persons and is God’s name that is associated with Creation because the Psalmist wrote that “The heavens declare the glory of God[ELOHIM]” (19:1).
YHWH- I AM

This is the name revealed to Moses when Moses asked what name he should give to the Israelites if they asked what His name was. This is the same title that Jesus used many times in the great “I AM’s” during His earthly ministry. It is the “Self-Existent One.” We are human beings but God is simply “Being” meaning He had no beginning and will He have no ending. YHWH is a Tetragrammaton and contains no vowels. In fact, God’s name was so holy that the Jews would not even dare to say it and even today, many Orthodox Jews will not even spell it out but prefer to spell it “G_d” because of their reverence for it. God told Moses to tell them, “I AM that I AM” or I am the Self-Existent, Uncreated One meaning that “I have always been and will always be.” Some Hebrew scholars believe it was spelled EHYEH but no one can say for certain and the pronunciation of this sacred name has been lost in time. It could also be stated as “I AM HE WHO IS” (EX 3:14). The Hebrew verb form of Hayah is “to be” so this is closely related to YHWH.
ADONAI – The Lord is Master

The Hebrew name ADONAI in English means Lord or Master. It describes the Lordship of God over us as individuals. Adon in the Hebrew means master, steward, overseer, or Lord. In the context of the Old Testament ADONAI could be said to mean that God is our Master, our Overseer and our Lord. Jesus said that whoever you obey is your lord. I could put it this way…if He is not Lord of all He is not Lord at all. What I mean by this is that if you obey Him then He is your personal Lord but if you don’t obey Him, then He is not really your Lord and you are actually a child of the Devil and a vessel of wrath (Rom 2:8; Eph 2:3; John 3:35-36). You cannot claim God as your Lord if you do not obey Him. He is ADONAI – your Master – or He is not. If He is not, then you presently have the wrath of God still abiding on you.

JEHOVAH JIREH – The Lord Will Provide

JEHOVAH JIREH is specifically speaking about salvation for in Genesis 22, God provided a ram to be sacrificed after the Angel of the Lord stopped the knife in Abraham’s hand from killing Isaac. This was prophetic too because the Lord God would provide the Perfect and Supreme Sacrifice of the Lamb of God in Jesus Christ. At the same spot where Abraham was willing to sacrifice his own son is the same place that God did sacrifice His One and Only Unique Son, Jesus Christ. That place was where Calvary was! It is not ironic but intentional. The Lord provided for us Jesus Christ so that we could be restored to a right relationship with God that our sin had caused us to be separated. Genesis 22:14 is literally translated in the Hebrew to read “And Abraham called the place ‘The-Lord-Will-Provide’[JEHOVAH JIREH] as it is said to this day, In the Mount of the Lord it shall be provided.” The “shall be” is prophetic and points to Christ Jesus thousands of years later and in that same spot where the Father would provide for us Jesus Christ Who gave His own life willingly just as Abraham was willing to give the life of Isaac. This is why this is one of the most powerful names of God that He gives us.

EL SHADDIA – The Almighty God

EL is part of God’s name and when you add SHADDIA you are literally saying God Almighty or the God of the Mountains. Mountains almost always refer to the nations in the Bible. God is not only the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob but of the entire world…of all the nations. This expresses the Omnipotence of God. When Abraham and Sarah were past natural child-bearing age, God told Him that “I AM Almighty God [EL SHADDIA]” and that “those who dwell in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty [EL SHADDIA]” (Psalm 91:1). This is where EL SHADDIA is used and why the translators of the Hebrew used the word Almighty. EL SHADDIA is sovereign over all the earth, over all the nations, over all things in fact. The Almighty is mighty over all there is in the universe and in heaven which includes the angels, including Satan and the fallen angels (demons).

JEHOVAH SHALOM – The Lord is Peace

I like this one because it makes me think about Romans 5:1 which says “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we now have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Peace is good. Wrath is not. We had the wrath of God abiding on us until we repented, confessed our sins, and placed our trust in Christ. The wrath of God was placed on Jesus for us if we have trusted in Him. If we have not, God’s wrath still abides on us for “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him” (John 3:36). That is why “there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Rom 8:1). JEHOVAH SHALOM is used in Judges 6:24 where “Gideon built an altar there to the Lord and called it, The Lord Is Peace [JEHOVAH SHALOM]. To this day it still stands at Ophrah, which belongs to the Abiezrites.”The Lord is Peace for those who are His own; otherwise He is opposed to you (James 4:6).

JEHOVAH ROHI – The Lord is my Shepherd

If you are not saved, then the Lord is not your Shepherd. Jesus knows whose sheep are His own and He knows them by name and they know His voice (John 10:3-4). If you are not of His flock, then He is not your Shepherd. This is the name given by David when he wrote the 23rd Psalm. If the Lord is your Shepherd [JEHOVAH ROHI], then He will make you to lie down in green pastures and not brown patches. His rod (for protection) and His staff (for keeping the sheep in the flock) will comfort you. If JEHOVAH ROHI is your Shepherd, then He will lead you to still (calm) waters and you can drink from the living water and you will never thirst again (John 7:37-39). If He is your Shepherd then He will take you through the valleys of the shadow of darkness. If there are shadows that means at least there is light somewhere near. Your Shepherd won’t take you out of the valleys, He won’t keep you from the valleys or He won’t make you pass around the valleys but He will take you through the valleys and not leave you there. That is what the 23rd Psalm says. He won’t keep us out of the valleys but He will take us through them and go with us through them in the path of His righteousness (2 Cor 5:21) and goodness and mercy will follow us as we walk in this path and this path will eventually bring us into the house of the Lord and there shall we dwell with Him forever and ever. That is if he is your JEHOVAH ROHI or your Shepherd.

Conclusion

Maybe you have names of God which you prefer above those I have given. If you do, you likely have personal reasons for them. Tell us what they are and why. Whichever name you prefer for God, you can pray to a God that is always willing to forgive you and to cleanse you from all your sins (1 John 1:9) however this forgiveness is conditional. God gives mercy to those who repent of their sins and lifestyle, turn to Him and confess their sins, see their desperate need for the Savior, and place their trust in Christ Who alone can save (Acts 4:12). There is no other way to be saved. He is the only way to the Father (John 6:44). In your prayer life, why not pray to Him in the many names given which are all descriptive attributes of His Holiness, Omnipotence (all powerful), Omnipresence (present everywhere) and Omniscience (all knowing). Whatever your name is, Jesus will save you. He is waiting. Will you come to Him today and be saved while it is still called “today” (2 Cor 6:2)?

GOD OF THE BIBLE IS NOT ONLY LOVE
GOD OF THE HOLY BIBLE IS NOT (ONLY) LOVE!
Excerpts:
Since unredeemed people are constantly trying to find ways in which to avoid God's tough but necessary commandments, and since no one wants to even think about eternal judgment in Hell, people have gone to great lengths to twist this simple Biblical truth into the statement: "God is only love". If you do not believe this, let us examine some of these instances in which 1 John 4:8 has been so twisted. The fundamental flaw in the "God is only Love" concept is that the conclusion is quickly reached, where adherents to this position talk themselves into believing that no God Who is only Love could ever punish someone in Hell for eternity; therefore, God is re-created into a Grandfather figure, who will reluctantly throw the doors of eternal Heaven wide open to allow just about everyone who has ever lived to enter in.

God's Nature is multi-faceted, where each of His Attributes flows in parallel with the other, and each is equal in all its perfections. Thus, God's Judgment is just as perfect and eternal and just as powerful as His Love. But, false teachers in the Christian Church are not telling their people this reality; therefore, millions are being deceived, at the very moment the world is sliding into the Kingdom of Antichrist.

As you can see, false religions all over the world teach as doctrine that God is only love, His love is unconditional, and is universal - extending to all people. We see that Black Magick Freemasons, Gays and Lesbians, Universalist/Unitarians, Buddhists, Hindus, United Church of Christ, New Age adherents, Christian Mystics, Sufi adherents, Church of Christ-Scientists, Sikh adherents, Zoroastrians and the deeply Black Magick House of Theosophy, all teach this doctrine

More contradiction.. Upon further examination the Healing Code book also teaches something called "Power Breathing". This is an additional exercise apart from the HC's that is advised in the book for helping to deal with stress. This 'Power Breathing" is actually called the "Breath of Fire". It's origins and practices ~

Breath of Fire, Kundalini Yoga

Breath of Fire is one of the foundational breath techniques used in the practice of Kundalini Yoga. It is done by pumping the navel point in and out while breathing rapidly through the nose. It is always practiced through the nostrils with the mouth closed. It releases toxins and deposits from the lungs, mucous linings, blood vessel and other cells. It expands the lung capacity and increases vital strength.

So while the HC folks go to great measures to ensure that the Healing Codes was from a Christian God and that it is a good energy (and that it is not yoga), they are also advising to do a breathing exercise which has been a foundational practice in Yoga !

The following are several quotations made by Alex Loyd. In reading the below, is this from the Lord God, and is He being given the Glory?:

I completely respect your opinion, and where you are coming from. I just believe you may not have all the info. you need to make that determination. By the way, I never call myself a Christian, and do not in the book. IF you ask 100 people what that word means, you will get 50 different answers, and many of them bad, and deservedly so. I am a follower of Jesus. You will see my belief statement in the book, and of Ben Johnson MD.

First, I NEVER called myself a christian, if fact, I said I do NOT call myself a Christian

I will share something that really helped me find my sea legs spiritually. I do not believe that there will be one person in hell (whatever hell is) because of sin - NOT ONE!

Thanks again for your response. The bonus you are speaking of are truth focus statements from a Biblical perspective - I think they are labeled as such. These were developed by a Christian who created them for other Christians who use the codes - I did not come up with these. She contacted me and asked if we would like to post them, for free, for other Christians. Anything we can do, for free, to help - we will try and do. We do have a lot of Christian followers.

http://www.amazon.com/review/R2TGGRGBARFQNT/ref=cm_cr_pr_cmt?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B004KKYX5O#wasThisHelpful
Also, I state in the book that I do NOT call myself a christian, and that I run from religion, and have for years. Yes, I believe in God, and am a follower of Jesus. Does that worldview invalidate the physical mechanism? Do you know the worldview of the person who discovered vitamin C, or yoga, or alkaline water benefits, etc. If you do not agree with their worldview, do you dismiss the discover out of hand?

http://www.amazon.com/review/R1TG5EUYLWT3K7/ref=cm_cr_pr_cmt?ie=UTF8&ASIN=1455502006#wasThisHelpful
I believe that what the code actually does is heal internal spiritual issues. What Solomon called the issues of the heart, and what modern medicine has named "cellular memories". I don't know how it does that. I hope to know some day.

http://www.amazon.com/review/R1TG5EUYLWT3K7/ref=cm_cr_pr_cmt?ie=UTF8&ASIN=1455502006#wasThisHelpful
I completely understand where you are coming from, and was right there myself a number of years ago. However confronted with an extended illness with my wife that caused horrible daily pain, for which medicine had no answers, you start looking in places you might not have looked if everything had stayed all neat and tidy. You stop caring if it has double blind tests, or if it's approved, or even what anyone else thinks at all. You simply want something that works - whether their is "true science" research or not. That's where my wife and I were. We went to the "true science" FIRST! No answers. I was a counselor and therapist myself. We went there FIRST as well. No answers.

Amazon.com: George's review of The Healing Code: 6 Minutes to Heal the So...

I thank you for your comments, but do not agree with some of them. I have never heard one other person, anywhere in the world say that the healing code IS Christian prayer. It absolutely is NOT. It is a physical mechanism in the body that reduces stress. We tested that for almost two years with standard medical tests. When we tested it, there was NO prayer involved, in any way. Just, do this (the code), while they were hooked up to the medical test. The results were unprecedented in the history of medicine, as far as I can find. Saying a sincere prayer from the heart before doing the code, was added much later to enhance the process. It has NOTHING to do with the actual code. Several other things were added later, also to enhance, and speed up the healing process

We have NEVER found any difference in results based of world view, ethnicity, age, sex, etc. NONE! If you do it, it appears to work.
We also say in the book that if you don't believe in God, say a sincere prayer from your heart - period - however that works for you. I tell the reader my beliefs about being a follower of Jesus as an FYI. There is absolutely no attempt to convert or convince the reader to my perspective

God's Greatest Attribute Is Not Love
by Pastor Art Kohl
God's Greatest Attribute Is Not Love by Pastor Art Kohl

IntroductionIt seems, in our ignorance, that society is convinced the only attribute God has is love. That this attribute transcends any or all of His other attributes. The extent of this is climaxed in the justification of all kinds of sins under the umbrella of God's love. Homosexuality is okay because God is a God of love. Drunkenness is okay because God is a God of love. Gambling is okay because God is a God of love. Lesbianism, adultery, lust, pride, greed, etc. are all okay because God is a God of love. It would strike some fear and trembling in all of us if we understood clearly that God's greatest attribute is NOT love.

1. God Is LoveWhat is love? Every human being has a different definition. To some, it is a mushy feeling inside. An exhilarating emotion. Lust for sex. Some man might beat his wife, yell at her, call her names, abuse her and yet claim to love her. Get the point! There's some strange ideas floating around out there on what love is.
God's love is also a subject that varies immensely depending on who you're talking to. As forementioned, some believe you can commit any wicked action in the world, but, never fear, God loves you! Bologna! What about all the references in the Bible that demand repentance if that were true??? God is Love (I John 4:8,16), but when God defined what love is, in I Corinthians 13:4-8, God said, "Love does not rejoice in iniquity."

I'm glad that God told us what love is in the written pages of His word. Every opinion can be tossed out, and we must believe what He said. Space does not permit me to discuss I Corinthians 13. Please study it and see that love does 7 things, and does not do 9 different things. Can you find them?

2. God Has Many AttributesI have a book on my shelves entitled, "All the Divine Names and Titles in the Bible." It is 341 pages long. Obviously space again will not permit me to list all of God's attributes on this page. Suffice to say, every name God has denotes something different about His personality. For example, notice the contrast in His character in Nahum 1:2-3a, "God is jealous, and the Lord revengeth; the Lord revengeth, and is furious- the Lord will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies. The Lord is slow to anger and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked." There's more to God than just love, folks! God loves sinners but hates our sin!

3. God's Greatest AttributeThe greatest attribute God possesses, and all others hang on this one, is holiness! God gave us the written laws to put a "difference between the Holy and the unholy," Leviticus 10:10. Then He commanded us, "... and ye shall be holy, for I am holy." Leviticus 11:44, 20:7, I Peter 1:16. God the Father is Holy; God the Son is Holy (Acts 2:27: Mark 1:23: Luke 1:35, Acts 4:27, etc..) God the Spirit is Holy (95 times in the New Testament referred to as the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit.) Do you know what the word Holy means? Most people can't give a good definition of it. It comes from a Greek word, "hagios," which means blameless, consecrated, sacred, one who is separate from sin and set apart unto righteousness. It can represent a place or a thing, but most often Holiness refers to God Himself. God has been, is, and always will be separate from sin. When perfect, sinless angels adore the presence of Godly in Heaven, they say, "Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord of Hosts," Isaiah 6:3. In Revelation 4:8, it says, "... they rest not day and night saying, Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come."
God is Holy. He will not allow sin in His presence for all of eternity. If He allowed sin to remain in His presence, He would cease to be Holy, for Holiness is separation from sin. God's love hangs underneath His Holiness! The Scriptures say, "... without holiness, no man shall see God," Hebrews 12:14.

4. How Can We Be Holy If Sinners? This is where the love of God comes in. God's love sent His son from Heaven to earth to die for all of our sins. He was crucified, buried and rose again. This is the good news, the Gospel (I Corinthians 15:1-4). When a person receives the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior, they are born of God. (Study John 1:12-13) Jesus called this transaction of faith (not works), being born again. (See John 3:1-8).

When a person is in Christ, notice what happens to them according to II Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, HE IS A NEW CREATURE: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." This creature is a new man resulting from a new birth! Notice how this man is described in Ephesians 4:24, "And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and TRUE HOLINESS."

You cannot become holiness, you must be made holiness. You must be born again! You must receive Christ as your Savior and not try to save yourself. Holiness is imputed to our accounts by the merits of Christ, not by our good works. II Corinthians 5:21 sums it up, "For He (God) hath made Him (Christ) to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be MADE the righteousness of God IN HIM." Praise the Lord! Are you IN HIM? If not, stop right now and by prayer receive the Lord Jesus Christ as your Saviour. Ask Him now to save you from your sins and believe that His death, burial, resurrection and shedding of blood was for you personally. Pray from your heart: "Heavenly Father, I do today receive Jesus Christ as my Savior from sin and its penalty. I believe He died for me and was buried and rose again and trust today in His sacrifice and shed blood for the forgiveness of my sin. Please come into my heart and give to me eternal life. In Jesus' name, Amen."

5. The Forgotten Doctrine There would be a lot less sin in this world if people would realize that we are dealing with a Holy God. A God who is separate from sin and hates sin. His holiness will usurp His love at the judgement seat of the wicked and will cast the unsaved into a lake of fire for all eternity. (Study carefully 2 Thessalonians 1:8, Revelation 20:10-15, 21:8).

Until then, His arms of love and forgiveness are extended to us, no matter what we've ever done. Come to Him today before it's too late

Not all Healings should be assumed they are from God..

The Christ's are coming, The Christ's are coming
The Christ's are coming, the Christ's are coming

I often hear people say that the Devil can't heal He comes only to kill steal and destroy, only God can heal. There are also miracles and wonders in the cults who deny the essentials of the Bible. If these are from God it would be inconsistent with his character to authorize falsehood. Does he heal an individual who denies sin, the need for salvation by Christ by distorting the Gospel and even deny who Christ is?

Can anyone say the true God healed someone in the Mormon Church or in some other cult? What about the gurus who boast of healings and great miracles? Certainly to hold the position that only God heals is disastrous. For there are counterfeits, and if they can take place outside the Church they can also take place inside as well. As Paul states in 2 Cor.11:14 they are false apostles, they look like ministers of righteousness, they can have holiness, they have power, but their doctrine and focus is off. You will be able to tell because they make followers after themselves or their unique teaching and more often than not money is involved.

Yes the Devil comes to steal, kill and destroy, mostly “the truth” (Mt.13 the seed). Jesus said he was liar from the beginning and there is no truth in him. But he doesn’t do this by openly challenging or trashing the Word but uses it and applies it in a twisted way. He does not eliminate all the truth but leaves just enough in it to attract. However the purpose is to foster pride and have the focus taken off Christ. God’s truth is in his Word. A lie is not the opposite of truth but is void of truth, it replaces it by adding to the word or changing its meaning so it becomes harmful to those who eat it.
The fact is Miracles are transpiring all over the world in all different religions. many of these miracles we see today have to do with Idolatry and false worship in some way. Apparitions giving new revelation, statues moving eyes, crying, and bleeding. Could something supernatural soon happen that will propel us into a unity unprecedented in our history? I believe it’s coming.

Not all who do miracles in his name are following Christ. We have the example of Judas who cast out the demons and healed along with the other eleven disciples; this needs to be considered in the equation. This can be one explanation for Matthew 7:21, where people used the power of His name and got the same results. But it was a matter of authority, who was in charge. Jesus said they practiced lawlessness. In other words He was not Lord over their lives, but they used His name for power exhibitions and anything their hearts desired, they promoted their ministries by his name (although many of their ministries are named after themselves), it was about them, not Jesus.

Who are these people who claim to be representatives of Christ? Jesus tells us very clearly “Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord HAVE WE NOT PROPHESIED IN THY NAME? In thy name CAST OUT DEVILS and in thy name DONE MANY WONDERFUL WORKS? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you; depart from me” (Matthew 7:22-23). What a scary thing to have said, those who thought they were doing His work by displays of power and offering it to the sheep. We are not immune to deception and if you believe you are then you may already be deceived. Jesus’ last sermon started with, “see to it that no one deceives you” as the theme for the last days, we are in those days.

We are to contend earnestly for the faith [Jude 3 We are to consistently present the truth. That means we will be constantly battling against error.] Jude’s letter is polemic, in other words it was to defend the faith from inside the church instead of apologetic, defending it to those of other religious and spiritual beliefs. The Church is to be the pillar and ground of truth. We have the message that saves and it is to be continually proclaimed as the great commission continues until the end of time.

What is the solution to all this?

Keep our focus on Jesus continue in His Word, be watchful, continue to occupy with His work until He comes. It’s going to get radical brothers and sisters, but by his grace and through His Spirit He will be there for us all.

Hi Melody,
I guess the possibility or potential for deception these days is heightened by the media and the huge volume of information that's instantly available on the world wide web. However, as Christians we have the witness of he Holy Spirit within us to keep us from error. A careful reading of the Gospel of John and chapter 10 reveals Jesus as the good shepherd in John 10:27-28 we read, “ My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand.” And in verse 5 we read, … they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognise a strangers voice. The unease we feel as Christians when someone speaks who masquerades as a follower of Jesus is the inner witness of the Holy Spirit, telling us this is a strangers voice.

And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. John 17:3

As Christians we need to learn to be more responsive to the Holy One who dwells with in us and listen to His voice. See 1 John 2:26-27

As for those who are ultimately rejected by Jesus despite having claimed to have done great things in his name, the reason they were rejected was they never knew him.

Thanks Tee, these are excellent verses of scripture. Let me run with those..

If we want to know, and hear God more clearly, and be sensitive to the Holy Spirit we will have to read the Bible for ourselves, as it is God's inspired Words to us. He has given us the ability through His Holy Spirit, to have the chance to experience renewal of our emotions, perspectives and beliefs. God longs to speak his truth to us. But do WE long and thirst for Him, as much as we long to go to the golf course, or how we long to be with our new boyfriend or girlfriend ?

I personally used to think that it was good enough to listen to 20 pastors on the radio everyday, sit in church on Sunday hearing the Word preached on the overhead. I also used to read singular scriptural verses out of a little book. I think I felt like I knew the Bible but I didn't really and it proved it when I ran into a crisis and I realized the very shaky ground I was in. Reading single Bible verses for instant relief didn't work. Really, I had just been riding on the coattails of some one else's knowledge, and that is why I I never grew. But as I mentioned before, it was when I was ill and so broken that I opened up my Bible so very differently. I was at the mercy of God to whether I lived or died. And through a humbled and broken heart submitted to God for *whatever the cost*, the words I meditated on in the Bible became like fire! So I would say in my life experience, it was not the Bible that changed, but it was my attitude that had changed. God spoke to me when my heart was right. May I never get too prideful to forget it.

I prayerfully hope that whoever reads this.. The Holy Spirit is sufficient. He is God ! Don't give up on Him, and run to other things when things are not working your way, or fast enough. Trust Him that He is always on time. He is never too late and never too early. Lean on the promises of His Word that He will never forsake you and He will always help you. His Truth and His faithfulness are a shield and a buckler to you. Spend your time learning how to take every thought captive, which is what God instructed us to do. The Holy Spirit, God, will help renew your mind. It's free !

Ephesians 2:8 New International Version (NIV)
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—

Three Reasons Why You Don't Read Your Bible
http://www.theologynetwork.org/bible-reading/three-reasons-why-you-dont-read-your-bible.htm

From the earliest years of your Christian life– whether as a child raised in a Christian home, or as somebody brought to faith and discipled in a church group– you will have been told how important it is to read your Bible regularly. You decided to try some sort of Bible read through and set to reading four chapters a day. Early zeal meant you tore through the Gospels and enjoyed the drama of Genesis, but before long you ran into rock solid Romans, or life-draining Leviticus. You missed a few days out, and then… well, it’s been a while since you found the will to pick your Bible up again.

Every now and then, first thing in the morning and last thing at night, you see it on your bedside table and it stares you out. It’s at these times that other things tend suddenly to grab your attention. ‘I really ought to mow the lawn!’, ‘I never did write that thank you card to Aunt Daisy!’. ‘Wouldn’t it be lovely to bake some bread?’ It’s so easy to drop reading the Bible down the list of priorities just a little bit, and never get around to it. Why is that? There are three very common reasons, and they all have solutions that aren’t so much to do with how well disciplined your are, but more about the way you think about the Bible. The first reason isn’t even really a proper reason, so we’ll start with that one and get it out of the way.

You don’t have time

This may be the most common ‘reason’ we give to explain to ourselves why we’ve not read the Bible for a while: events of the day got on top of me, my feet have hardly touched the ground, I overslept. Yet of course this isn’t a serious reason for missing out on the scriptures. We all make time for what we believe we need, and we certainly make time to do what we want! Life is rarely too busy to surf the Internet, watch the television, or go to the pub. The fact is that our priorities reveal what we truly value, and the ‘not enough time’ excuse is most likely a cover-up of one of the two reasons below. So if this first one is you, admit it’s nothing more than an excuse and read on!

You think the Bible is about you

The first is that deep down, you feel your Bible reading isn’t ‘working’- and it’s really because you read the Bible with your eyes on yourself. As you read it, you’re looking for practical lessons on life, instructions on how to behave, and commands to go away and do right now. And you find that the Bible doesn’t provide these particularly well!

It’s hardly the best ‘how to’ guide for life: it’s full of ancient history, genealogies, instructions for priests and kings, bizarre-sounding visions, and precious little in the way of direct instructions to you, the reader. Even in the New Testament where things seem a little easier to apply to you, vast chunks go by without a word on how to live! The whole of Acts passes without even one command to go and do evangelism like Paul did; Romans takes 11 long chapters to get to any application.

This can be immensely frustrating for us at times as we often want some moral guidance so that we can take whatever nugget of wisdom we need for the day, and get going with life. This will lead us to ignore the ‘boring’ bits, allegorise and twist the difficult bits, and generally stick to our favourite bits. We focus on what we think will directly apply to us, and generally avoid instructions about the tabernacle, minor prophets, and anything about numbers of people in tribes.

The solution to this problem is to see that the Bible is about Jesus and not us. The solution is to take our eyes off ourselves and begin to look at Jesus in the Bible. Despite all that our hearts would have us believe, the Bible isn’t a book given to dole-out moral lessons, but a book given to us to teach us about Christ so that we can delight in him. If you’ve found yourself treating the Bible as a moral ‘how to’ guide, your next move is to start reading it differently. Let the Bible show you the glory and beauty of Jesus, and you will find that as you do, love for him will bubble-up inside. Believe it or not, you will see him held-out to you in even the obscure passages you’ve always avoided. You will find that far from dutifully going to the Bible for handy hints for the day, you will gladly run to it so that Christ will conquer your heart afresh; so that you will take your gaze off yourself and obsess over him instead.

You think your Bible reading is for God’s benefit

Everyone will be familiar with this situation: you’ve been going strong with your Bible reading, enjoying it and feeling your love for the Lord grow. But something comes up (perhaps opportunity for a Saturday morning lie in) and you miss a day. Somehow the next day gets dropped too and, before you know it, it’s been a week. Maybe two or three.

The feeling you get isn’t a stomach-rumbling or a dry throat; not a spiritual hunger or thirst. It’s a nagging guilt which tells you that if you really cared about God then you would have read the Bible, that you really should have finished Jeremiah by now. The flipside of this feeling is, of course, a sense of satisfaction (dare you admit it, a smug satisfaction) when you do read the Bible, especially when you manage a whole book in one go. You think, ‘I’m obviously maturing as a Christian!’, and are tempted to drop into conversations that, ‘Yes, I was in Ezekiel 47 this morning. Marvellous chapter!’ lol

The diagnosis for you is that you imagine your Bible reading to be doing God a favour. The crushing guilt you feel when you miss it is your heart telling you God is displeased, and the slightly haughty contentment you feel when knocking out five chapters instead of your usual four is your heart telling you that God is now smiling on you.

The solution is to recognise and live in God’s grace. You are eternally loved and accepted by the Father because of Jesus. He and he alone is the reason that sinful people can relate to God at all; as we find ourselves in him we are adorned with his status and standing before his Father. That is the heart of our salvation and the ongoing reality that dominates the Christian life. To imagine that regularity with which we read our Bible can in any way augment or diminish this in some way is to totally misunderstand our very salvation! Missing a quiet time could never change God’s gracious love for us! If you have thought this way, you must realise that you’re cheapening what you have been given in Christ and attempting to wrestle back from the Jesus the great burden of pleasing God. Give it back and pick up your Bible- it’s much lighter!

In this context the Bible is given to us as a gift to feast on, rather than a project to complete before judgment day. We will find we go to it to savour and enjoy, and when we miss a day we might feel hunger pangs, but we could never feel guilt, fear, or condemnation. In the same way that skipping breakfast is more of a missed opportunity than a morally dubious choice; not going to the scriptures for nourishment is not a matter of calling down the anger of God, but of omitting to take advantage of his good gifts to his children.

Conclusion

The Bible has been given to us to help us know and love Christ. Our Father is generous and loving, and loves to communicate with us; the Spirit has inspired the scriptures so that they bring life, joy, and fullness to the Christian walk. If you have misunderstood or abused the Bible up until now, making it about you and your efforts, simply look to Jesus instead: the One of whom the Bible speaks, and the One on whom your salvation rests. Read it to love and trust him more.

Christians Don't Read Their Bible
http://poncefoundation.com/project/christians-dont-read-their-bible/
Of over 2 billion Christians in the world, less than 30% will ever read through the entire bible. The fact is over 82% of Christian Americans only read their bibles on Sundays while in church.

A little over 20 years ago, Gallup released the results of a major study indicating that 86% of Americans claimed to be Christian, although only 70% of these admitted to being “born again” according to biblical measure.
In recent studies, the Pew research indicates that only 25% of Americans now attend church any given Sunday, significantly down from 47% in 1990.
The study also shows that, in evanglical churches throughout the United-States, statistics show 36% of those who attend church weekly indicate that believing in Jesus Christ is the only true way to Heaven. A shocking 57% of American Christians believe other religions can lead to eternal life.
One of the main reasons why American Christians don’t read their bibles is, only 22% of them believe the Bible is fully inspired by God Himself, and written by men who were divinely appointed by the Lord almighty. Over 1 in 4 American Christians believe the bible to be a book written by mere men, not at all the word of God.
