  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well, one of the hard drives in my old machine finally committed suicide. R.I.P. It was ten years old.
Fortunately, it wasn't the one with the OS on it. Now I get to show my brother what the inside of a hard drive looks like :p
While replacing it, though, the blasted machine demanded a blood sacrifice to start working again -- I am missing a few chunks of flesh from my knuckles thanks to a badly designed case. :sigh:
Any other hardware-repair horror stories out there?

let see, i tried hooking up my laptop hard drive to my desktop computer. i went down to the electronics store to get a 2.5in to 3.5 hdd adapter.

after connecting it all, i forgot that i didnt set the jumper on my laptops hard drive.

becuase it was the only hard drive in the laptop, having no jumper setting put it at default. so now i needed a plastic shunt to set the jumper settings.

i took one off of my cd drive and put it on, only now the adapter wouldnt fit on! so i took a risk and shaved the shunt down and it barley fit.

i rescued all my data from the hdd and put everything back to normal.
