Well let me put it this way...

He believes he knows something that is so important, he'll never learn anything else as remotely important. He'll never learn something "life-altering"...he'll never learn anything else that could shape who he is or his understanding of the world. In a sense, he's done learning anything important. Everything he'll learn from now on is a triviality compared to what he believes he already knows....

It's the very essence of what is meant by "close-minded". A world of possibilities is gone forever to him. A world of understanding is lost.

The irony in this....is that he views his position as "superior" to all others.

Sounds to me like what you're saying could also describe an enlightenment.

If I were to guess your reply, I'd say it involves the idea that there's some special knowledge that you have...but cannot share...but I could learn if I just start believing.
