I was in my late teens and early 20's in the 80's and the music of that time was so awesome, IMO the best era of music ever, I was just wanting to know who were your favorite 80's groups and solos.
Mine were
Madness
Howard Jones
Sly Fox
Night Ranger
Bon Jovi
Cinderilla
Berlin
Boy Meets Girl
Romeo Void
Eddie Grant
Billy Ocean

Alphabetically, so as not to tout one over the other:

Bauhaus/Tones on Tale/Love and Rockets, Crass, The Cure, Einsturzende Neubauten, Jean-Michel Jarre, Joy Division/New Order, Matt Johnson/The The, Metallica, Misfits, Naked Raygun, Nena, Pere Ubu, Peter Schilling, The Smiths, Subhumans, Throbbing Gristle/Psychic TV...on and on and on

Hmmm... Mostly esoteric stuff. I think I was a pretentious snob.

Good old Bon Jovi!! :D

Um...80's bands...most of the ones I've heard and liked have been covered already. For solos, I can't go past the guitar into synth solo in "Jump" by Van Halen. The drum pattern in Eddie's solo is quite interesting, and who can forget the opening riff? :p

I had a ton of MP3's that I finally burned to CDs last week. Ended up being 6 CDs (about 95 songs) of my favorite 80's music. It's great! I really got on an 80's kick 5 or 6 years ago. Cheesy? Yes. But that's part of what makes it so much fun!

so on and so on, I was a typical 80's teenager if it was popular I probably liked it.

I saw Bon Jovi in concert back in '86 and then a couple of years ago I saw them again....even 15 years later they still put on an awesome show. They don't even need new material, they will always sell tickets because their '80s music is so appealing.

Slash is actually pretty adorable underneath all that hair...or I thought so way back then, anyway. ;) And any thought of Bon Jovi hair just makes me happy.

i was just a baby in the 80's but started listening to metal music with 80's metal in my preteen/early teen years from my sisters albums in those were included: iron maiden, ac/dc and black sabbath and thats what started it all with me then later on evolved to faster and heavier metal music but if it wasnt for those bands id probably now be listening to rap and pop music *pukes*
