God made all the stars, a vast number. All the galaxies too, also a vast number. Did he fill them with creatures like us?

Why make such a vast universe, billions of light years across and with billions upon billions of galaxies and each galaxy filled with billions upon billions of stars, and as many planets or more, it seems. So much abundance, did he make it all to be empty, decorations for the night sky? It seems profligate.

Psalm 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
2 Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they reveal knowledge.
3 They have no speech, they use no words;
no sound is heard from them.
4 Yet their voice[b] goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.
In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun.
5 It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,
like a champion rejoicing to run his course.
6 It rises at one end of the heavens
and makes its circuit to the other;
nothing is deprived of its warmth.

Yes, I've felt much the same way. With so many more stars and galaxies, as well as planets, why would God populate only one with life? But the fact is, unless extraterrestrials who live on other planets can crack light speed and then some, they cannot practically interact with us. So why even worry about it? On the other hand, speculation is fun! :)

However, if you're really going to get into this subject, I suggest you read something from Discovery Institute. One particular expert suggests that the kinds of galaxies out there are mostly not conducive to life the kind we are. They have patterns that would expose planets to ranges close to and far from hot areas near suns that would not allow for it.

You might want to consider the "Great Silence" question, as well, by the same author I'm recommending, Guillermo Gonzalez... HERE
And HERE, if you can handle all of the scientific thinking.
