  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is anyone taking part in the Great Scottish Run this Sunday?
I was supposed to be, but I've got an injury which means I can't! My physio has only just let me start running again, and I'm nowhere near ready to run that kind of distance....

Hmm, question. When did those warehouses down by the Tall Ship go on fire?

I was out of Glasgow for a fair bit of time in August, so I'm guessing I missed it. So far all I'm been able to gather is that someone got shot, there was a suspicion of money laundering/drug involvement and then the place went up in flames some time after that.

Anyone?

Anyone?

Happened the weekend my inlaws were over visiting (don't think they had anything to do with it! ;) Must have been about 27th August.

I hadn't heard about the shooting, although I HAD wondered about the developers. It had appeared as if the antiques warehouse and the salvage yard were planning to stay, but the rest of the warehouses were being demolished to make way for more flats. I had wondered if the developers set a wee fire? (Total speculation!) Anyway sounds like it was something else.

Sad - I thought it was great that we had a wee bit of the industrial history of the clyde that we could still see. I'm Amazed they didn't keep any of the row, or make any of them listed buildings, after all Buttermilk told me the high flats
at Anniesland are listed, and I liked the old warehouses better.

I wonder if they got all the antiques out first?

I'll check with my brother and see if they match the description of the suspects Special Branch are looking for :p

Yup. Wonder if they've found anyone wearing cement shoes at the bottom of the Clyde yet.

You mean you liked the novelty value of 'Lovejoy Antiques'? :p Poor ol' Tink.

It happened at the beginning of the month, the same place where someone was shot a couple of months ago. Very suspicious if you ask me, which the Police never do!

Blaze destroyed antiques worth £250,000

Ah, I thought the shooting was more recent than that. Ta for the link. :)

The talk of burning buildings has reminded me about the Architecture Festival. Can find details at www.blockarc.co.uk if interested. Talks, tours and such like from 8-15 October. :)

Looks interesting! Someone recently suggested I chuck in my job and study for architecture! They even said - just think by the time you are 34 you could be an architect! :D (or in jail for non payment of bills!) ;)

I love buildings and building design. I love the fact that the new ultra expensive flats down by the river in finnieston have plywood exterior walls and you can see the seams through the thin render on them! :D ^_^
