  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I love your blah-blah smilie - how did you do that?
It's a smilie I found on another site, just set a link for it :D

The Cafe Scientifique talks are usually very good - not too stuffy and quite informal. Should be good in Borders - they used to be held in Oran Mor, I think.

I was going to go along to one last year...I think the topic was evolution (although I may be getting myself mixed up with that talk at the Tron, I forget...) but I didn't have the time. I think, at that point, the talk was being held somewhere on Byers Road. Borders should be alright I guess, their cafe is a bit of an odd shape if I remember rightly though, which might make it a bit odd.

Ok, not everyones idea of a fun night out, but if anyone is interested Cafe Scientifique (scroll down to appropriate date - 19th May) are hosting a talk

tomorrow at Borders on Buchanan Street at 1930. You can always go read a book if you get bored. :p

Or you could just click this link here instead of scrolling :p It's not very bright to put the oldest events at the top and the newest at the bottom.

There was a talk in the Tron tail end of last year but it was organised by some other bunch, it clashed with Question Time being filmed in Glasgow which I was terribly annoyed about.

I may be wrong but I think the Sheila Maclean mentioned may have connections to the Methodist church on Woodlands road. She does however write in the Scotsman and has written several articles recently on matters related to this topic.

Revenge of the Sith is gonna be soo cool! :D

Not if anything to do with it have I! :p

On a different tangent, I think the Holiday Inn on Renfrew street needs to make it's signposts a little clearer. I was watching some poor soul trying to get their suitcase through the revolving door of the Di Maggios Pronto beside it the other night and wondering where exactly he was going.

lol. Bet you just stood there and watched him for ages :p

:p

Had I known he was looking for the Holiday Inn initially then I may have intervened...I did figure he might have just been very hungry.

But yes, he did keep me entertained for a bit while I was waiting. Curiosity is my vice. ;)
