  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Heigh hos all

For those of us that grace the aisles, seats and, very occasionally, floors of Glasgows buses....has anyone else spotted a bus driver that bears a striking resemblence to Jeremy Beadle?

I saw him driving the No. 88 last night, and spent the 20 minute bus journey waiting for some sadistic practical joke to take place, the 'Better watch out, Beadles about' tune playing relentlessly in my head...

Answering the command from Trust Headquarters today, my chum and I set out for Stobhill Hospital. The route chosen by the designated driver was via Maryhill because they insisted that "thats where the hospital is" despite my protests. So 45 irate minutes, 6 passers by and one map of Edinburgh later (yes, we were wondering why we didn't appear to be on the map) we eventually ended up where we were supposed to be.

Anyhoo, the point to my tale was that during our tour of Maryhill we passed Maryhill Halls (surprisingly). Looked like it might have been a very nice building in its day :/ I had a wee nosey online when I got home but could only find one site about it. I know its a bit of an out of the blue question but I just wondered if anyone happened to know if there were any plans for it?

Why don't you ask our trusty members who stay in Maryhill? :D

They (yes there is more than one :p) know who they are :D

lol. If it had been me giving them directions I'd have sent them off into depest darkest Sumerston where the locals would have stolen the wheels off the car before they knew what was happening and they'd have to flee for their lives in an Asda shopping trolley with only a packet of penne pasta as ammo :D

Being male seemed to be enough. He's a rare specimin indeed, he even stopped to ask directions, which would have been fine if 1) it wasn't every 600 yards and 2) he actually listened to what people told him. Stobhill Hospital is even on Barlornock Road....but would he chance it and take the Barlornock turn off? NO!

Anyway...I'm convinced it was female intuition that got us there in the end. Why else would I have known to ignore directions and find recruitment in the first building I chose? Particularly when the building itself claimed only to be occupied by Occ. Health, Dietian Dept. and I think perhaps speech therapy.

Next time I'll just get the No. 88 :D

P.S: Fellow bank nurse here  Don't you just love 'em? :p
