I think most politicians have some sort of a "see, I'm just like you" story to woo voters.

"I built my empire with more than a small 1 million dollar loan" is a recent example...

...based on the image I'm seeing, it would seem as both sides are using some creative wording here.

She's using the "girl from the bronx narrative", the conservative media is attempting to rebuttal with a "she's upper middle class" story.

While it might not be "roughing it in the Bronx"...it's certainly not "upper middle class" either. That house is actually pretty small...

They might have actually had a legitimate gripe to make about her until they got greedy and decided to try a little exaggeration of their own.

to give the impression that you didn't really have a head start on everyone else because all you got was a small loan...
