CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I was looking at other legally free software for you to download.... and for creating things, I found Inkscape which I think may be much more suited to what you both want to do than GIMP.... You can find information at http://www.inkscape.org/doc/index.php?lang=en
The correct download link is at http://downloads.sourceforge.net/inkscape/Inkscape-0.45.1-1.win32.exe
There are also some tutorials on that site

Boy thank you soooo much for this, you are such a great teacher!! My problem is I can't draw, so I feel kind of limited, but I see you can use pics, and make them your own,am pm'ing you something.

Ok Gregg have downloaded inkspace, and am now working on the pic you showed us how to use, going ummmm pretty good, had to start over a couple of times, but learning. Can you show us some more things with these programs???

Well got through the whole pic. Had problems with the gradient, think I know what I did. Little problem changing the angle of background, did turn but not the way you have yours?? Did the text and layers, but on step 29 after you click on Merry Christmas, do you close that layer box?? Step 39 don't understand!! Hold the shift down and click on Merry Christmas, then on step 40 do you still hold shift down??? What happened was I got Merry---on the top of the page and around the circle! And the letters on the circle fell off guess I should have made circle bigger. Step 43 couldn't find that and when I did it was off, must have done something wrong there. Did screen shot with gimp just fine, it is done and saved. Am really excited about doing this again, maybe get it right. Be on later tomorrow cookie making time
When you get time please show us how to use other things with these programs, they have so much more depth than ms paint.

Hi Bonnie I don't have a lot of time at the moment for more tutorials, but the best thing is to go through the tutorials in Inkscape - under Help > Tutorials from the menu. They should give you a lot more information. Then, just get an idea for a project - I always learn by having a project to work on - and go for it!
If you're stuck, then I'll try to help Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

Ok I have a Question, when I try to open up several images as "layers" so I can make it an animated av or whatnot... they next pics show up only using the colors that were in the first. How do I make this not happen?! So all my images don't look yellowish etc... I didn't have a problem with this before and now it's not working...
