Nah. Peter was a leader, then in Acts we see others became leaders of the church. I don't think the bible ever supported the idea of a 'Pope'. What happened to the "Priesthood of all believers"?It was actually decades until Linus became pope.
There are more prophecies about the end of the Gentiles ruling than just Revelation. Joel and Ezekiel reveal much detail about to occur.Nope. Revelation isn't about Russia.
Why would they (Joel and Ezekiel) do that, though? They were Jewish prophets and as such given till Christ (Luke 16:16).There are more prophecies about the end of the Gentiles ruling than just Revelation. Joel and Ezekiel reveal much detail about to occur.
As in Daniel God says to `seal the book until the time of the end,` (Dan. 12: 4) God`s word also speaks of Israel`s future. Each generation or group can learn of God, His character and His purposes, till all are fulfilled. Why would they (Joel and Ezekiel) do that, though? They were Jewish prophets and as such given till Christ (Luke 16:16).
What use would such prophecies had to ancient Jews, being in their Scriptures for hundreds (now thousands) of years? Is it not more probable that it was about something more related to their relatively near future and/or to the last days of Israel (which came with Christ)?
We are all priests in that sense. But Peter, as was David and Jesus, was a priest of the "order of Melchizedek." Remember, Melchizedek was the king of Salem and was a High Priest. Salem later became known and Jerusalem. Melchizedek offered mere bread and win, while Jesus offered his own Body and Blood. I hope that you've taken the time to check your sources again and have come to realize that Catholics do not claim the pope is God.Nah. Jesus is the only great High Priest we need. But Peter... was a high priest of the "order of Melchizedek."
I agree that Jesus is our High Priest. The priesthood that prefigured today's priesthood did not consist of one High Priest for each era of OT time. It prefigured the priesthood of the New Testament, where we have not just a pope but bishops and priests as well.Jesus is the only great High Priest we need.
His role as High Priest lasts forever.
We don't need human "High Priests" as the role of a priest is to bring God to mankind, a mediator, and an officiator of the sacrifices. But as there are no more sacrifices, Jesus fulfils the role of High Priest in an ongoing and eternal way just as he fulfils the sacrifices in an ongoing and eternal way.
Time of the end for Israel. Which already came.As in Daniel God says to `seal the book until the time of the end,` (Dan. 12: 4) God`s word also speaks of Israel`s future. Each generation or group can learn of God, His character and His purposes, till all are fulfilled.
`For behold. I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former shall not be remembered or come to mind.` (Isa. 65: 17)Time of the end for Israel. Which already came.
Israel was the context of the Jewish prophets. Their main point of view. The end was the Messiah and the kingdom of God. Not the end of the galaxy or something like that, such technically global concepts exist only in the mind of a modern reader.
You mean much detail about what happened.
The Jews did return to Jerusalem and Israel under the Persians
Its a biblical imagery, like many other things in the chapter 65. The chapter is not a long technical/literal description of the future, its a poetry and a prophetic language.`For behold. I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former shall not be remembered or come to mind.` (Isa. 65: 17)
...of things to come. Its a biblical imagery, like many other things in the chapter 65. The chapter is not a long technical/literal description of the future, its a poetry and a prophetic language.
For example, there is no publication 'Barclay, Chapter XXVII, p. 218, “Cities Petrus Bertanous”' which contains the supposed but fabricated quotation by Pope Pius V. The fancy/foreign sounding title and chapter and page number were meant to deceive you. Notice there is no date given for this publication or first name of "Barclay," that is a warning sign that should make one proceed with caution. If you thought it through at least one anti-Catholic who actually found powerful documentation that the pope said he was the same as God or something similarl would be expected to post an image of such a page or a link to the page. For a second example of a bogus source for a fabricated quotation supposedly from a pope, there was no publication in 1895 called the Catholic National. You said you checked references, what kind of checking did you do?
"There are not over a hundred people in the United States who hate the Catholic Church. There are millions, however, who hate what they wrongly believe to be the Catholic Church — which is, of course, quite a different thing. These millions can hardly be blamed for hating Catholics because Catholics “adore statues”; because they “put the Blessed Mother on the same level with God”; because they say “indulgence is a permission to commit sin”; because the Pope “is a Fascist”; because the “Church is the defender of Capitalism.” If the Church taught or believed any one of these things it should be hated, but the fact is that the Church does not believe nor teach any one of them. It follows then that the hatred of the millions is directed against error and not against truth. As a matter of fact, if we Catholics believed all of the untruths and lies which were said against the Church, we probably would hate the Church a thousand times more than they do."
Bishop Fulton Sheen
That's quite a story, funny it wasn't mentioned who found this supposed publication. Don't you wonder how lucky it was to not just find a publication "missing" over the centuries, but also the exact issue and page that has been the subject of so much anti-Catholicism? Who made the discovery? Now use some common sense, if someone believed they were God don't you think they would go around bragging about it rather than mention it on only one occasion? How easy it is to accuse others.I don't hate the catholic church .... however .... some of it's teachings are not biblically based ... it is a mingling of scriptures and tradition.
What the upper hierarchy believes and the laity believes are too different things ... the laity is misled and are largely not informed of many things.

...of the Holy Spirit who is revealing the future. From the point of view of Isaiah, yes.
It was the Catholic Church that chose the 73 books of the Bible. The Bible is the book of the Catholic Church, not the other way around. Remember the Catholic Church existed before on Word of the New Testament was written. Much of what Jesus passed down through the Apostles ended up in the Holy Bible, in order to be included in the Bible text had to be 100 percent in keeping with the teachings of the Catholic Church. I suppose the laity in almost any religion gets misled at some time, but there is a major effort to pass down the teachings of Jesus as well as possible.I don't hate the catholic church .... however .... some of it's teachings are not biblically based ... it is a mingling of scriptures and tradition.
