  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So how much are you going to spend on the flowers, and what's all included. I'm having a really hard time getting myself to pay $400 for 5 Bouquets (including mine) 5 Boutonnieres (Including bf's) and 2 corsages (the mom's) EEEK! That's ALOT OF $ for FLOWERS. Or maybe I'm just cheap. But I'd rather make my own and put the money towards our house or honeymoon.

I'm paying about the same for 4 bouquets (a big one is to be placed on the altar) and buttonhole for my fiance, so I think your deal is actually pretty good.

Here's a picture of my bouquet:):

Well I've gone to a few other places and the prices are staying the same. So my mom and I decided that we are going to make them. Both of us are pretty crafty so if we put our heads together I'm sure we could come up with something.
Does anyone know of any good red flowers not including roses that we could use. Our theme colour is Red.

gerberas, tulips, cala lily, red larkspur, dahlia, red hydreanga, carnation, lily, red iris, orchids, day lily, red verbena, pentas lancelotte, red velvet (Achillea millefolium) amaryllis ... what season are you marrying in?

gerbera's, dahlias, red velvet, etc do best in mixed bouquets unless you're an expert in binding bouquets. Lilies can stand by themselves or be mixed with other flowers, red velvet is a great filler, Amarillys a very special choice if you are marrying near winter. As to bridesmaids: a single red cala lilly can make a very dramatic statement if you go for sleek or elegant, modernish style. Tulips are great for a more fresh note. If you work with lilies, be very careful of the polen, make sure there are no threads left that can stain clothing!!
If you go for a romantic style, consider a tussy mussy: an elegant silver (or silver plated) small holder for flowers. It can contrast beautiful with red flowers, though it works with mostly everything.

They're beautiful!

I can't make up my mind what colour scheme I want for the wedding, what flowers I want or anything! It's strange, that I always hoped I'd be married and now that I'm engaged I'm having such a hard time making up my mind about the big day lol

Here's my bouquet... I made it myself. My bridesmaids and I made all our own bouquets, the corsages and boutonnieres, and then my husband's aunts did the large arrangements for the church, did the pew flowers, and did the centrepieces at the reception. We received many compliments on the flowers/decor in general, which was really nice!

Ok! I said in an earlier post that I couldn't make my mind up what colour scheme or flowers I want, well now I know! My favourite flower is the Iris but I didn't know how to incorporate it with other flowers or colours because I don't really want a blue/yellow theme, but that boquet is absolutely gorgeous! I love that pink flower right next to the iris and aalso those pale blue flowers, what are they called?

The pink ones are stargazer lilies, the blue ones are blue hydrangeas, and there are also ivory roses. For the little bit of greenery, we used the hydrangea leaves, and left a few of the leaves on the roses.
