Weird...

And why not?

I just don't see how my question:

"Ah, but who decides what goes in a particular Creed? By what standard is a particular Creed deemend accurate?"

is answered by your response:

"Date, Authorship, and Authority."

What do you mean by 'date', 'authorship', and 'authority'?

That is what goes into deciding whether a creed is accurate. As for who decides what goes into it, the obvious answer would be the authors whoever they were/are.

Yes, I understand that that's your claim, but I don't know how they are at all relevant.
How does the date alter the accuracy of a Creed?
Why does the accuracy vary from author to author?
By whom is authority given, and why does it affect the accuracy?

As for who decides what goes into it, the obvious answer would be the authors whoever they were/are.
Yes, but why does the accuracy depend on the authors of the Creed?
If I write a Hindu Creed and you write a Hindu Creed, how do we determine which is more accurate?

The date gives authority to some Creeds because it demonstrates what the early Church believed. Like that in Corinthians 15, or the 'Old Roman Symbol' reflect the veiws of the Early Church who were connected with Jesus teaching.

People like Paul, along with the other disciples were inspired by the Holy Spirit which came out in their writing. As for things like the Nicene Creed, it stakes its claim on scholarship, and the certain farmiliarity with the disciples writings and knowledge of the Early Church and the disciples.

I haven't either. I'm still trawling through the Wheel of Time series. Did you know that the author upped and died without finishing the series.

How inconsiderate.

Joking...
Yes I did. Not very nice of him :cry:Though WoT makes me tear my hair at times... I mean, it could do us the kindness of moving a bit faster. [/off-topicking]

I agree 0 the books are slow going. Didn't he only have one book left to write? Maybe a family member of his can decypher his notes and write it for him - like Christopher Tolkien?

I think that's what some people are planning to do... might have read that at wotmania.com, I'm not sure.

One way or another I will have that last book

lol I haven't heard of the wheel of time series... I am taking it you like it. Perhaps I should check it out.
Tim, they are fantastic books! Alittle slow, but very good. I hope you enjoy them.

Be warned, the author died prior to finishing the last book and there are eleven (?) books in the series.
