• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Staying safe for 2 years while still having the urge to self injure is a huge accomplishment, whether you realize it right now or not.

A relapse isn't a failure, it's a chance to learn more about yourself. Push aside the disappointment for a minute and try to think about why you relapsed. What led up to it? What feelings or emotions were involved? What's a good way to recognize these triggers in the future? What are three safe things you can do the next time you're triggered in this way?

The good news is...you made it 2 years! If you did it once, you can definitely do it again.

I am so sorry to hear that. Coincidentally, I just cut last night and that was my first time in 2 years also. I am angry with myself and scared that I will end up as bad as I was back then. I even kept the blade so I can do it again. I can't believe I just said that.

i agree with this. self awareness will help us all in our struggles.
self awareness will help us understand why we do things by bringing the unconcious to the concious. then it is easier to fight a "bad" behaviour.
there are also times that when we get to understand why we have a specific behaviour, the behaviour loses power and eventually fades away by itself.

i strongly believe that self-awareness is also the key to a better understanding of God and Christ.

i wish you all the best in your struggles.

hugs,

Anna
