I got DC Talk's Jesus Freak for Christmas many years ago. I also got my first cd player that year. I listened to that album constantly (I didn't really have a choice, it was my only cd at the time). Haha. Bad/fond memories.

word. i think the first album i owned was one of steven c. chapmans. but that was a gift.

the first 2 cd's i bought were dc T.'s Jesus Freak and Jars of Clay's self-titled debut (which is still a favorite)

Being that I was using cassettes for a long time I would have to say that the first CD I bought was Rage Against the Machine's 'Evil Empire.'

The Monkees- Greatest Hits and Hanson- Middle of Nowhere, early 1997. I bought them at the same time. Then I hated Hanson cuz I heard them too much and now I like them again. I have this strange compulsion to like what isn't popular.

The first CD I bought was either The Best Of J.Geils Band, or Ultimate New Wave Party 1998. In any case it was the same weekend. I never bought any cassettes until I started taping off the radio (but those were just blank), but I did get them as Christmas or birthday presents.

I think the first real albums on cassette I got was a copy of the Newsboys' Going Public and Not Ashamed that my cousin transferred onto one tape back in 1995. After that it was their Take Me To Your Leader album, and the Space Jam Soundtrack, which rounds out all the albums I have on cassette, and I got all of those before Summer 1997. After Summer 1997, I only got CDs.
