congrats Oliveplants, I breastfed while pregnant, my oldest 2 are 13 months apart and I breastfed my oldest until she was 1 year old.

Where abouts in England are you moving too? I'm guessing it will be in the south as that's where all the US bases are, if you ever come up North give me a shout.

I'm delighted for you that you are expecting, and hope things are working well with the whole tiredness / bf thing. And congratulations on a successful posting to England. How long will you be there for? I know some Texans and they all agree that Europe and England are great... but everything seems really small!

Are you crazy? :D I went the other way. I'm a Brit now living in Texas. Yeah, Texas is too hot and too windy but I just love the sunshine. It's a big difference from England. I'm sure you'll have fun in England though cos it has lots of interesting places to visit. Even my country boy Texan husband would like to visit England again even though it made him sick last time we went :D I'm sure it's gonna be a culture shock moving in the winter. My dad always comes to Texas to get out of the cold :D You might have a chance at seeing some snow though. Have fun!

I'm in the Rio Grande Valley about 50 miles north of Brownsville. We're having spring too. I love this time of year when it's just in the 80s but in a month or two we'll be up to "way too hot" status again.

I love England in the summer. The sunshine really changes things. And I love that it's so green (at least compared to here - we're in a drought). But I don't care for the gloomy winters much.

I would love it if I could visit England a couple times a year. There can be some really wonderful people there. My parents orginate from the Newcastle and Liverpool areas and if you can understand them :D they have some real sweet personalities.

Will you be homeschooling your kids or will they be going to public school? If you homeschool there is lots and lots of war related history around England. My hubby found it interesting just to look at all the shrapnel marks walking around London as there isn't history like that in the US. Guess it just all depends on what you find interesting.

If you have any specific questions ask away :)

Yes there are some wonderful people in England if I do say so myself. ;)

On top of what Mrs A2J said, there are also castles all over the place, huge old houses to visit, roman archeological sites, and there's the added bonus that you never have to travel very far really to get anywhere.

Do you know when you'll be moving?

Hey!
Yesterday I saw the new responses, but CF wouldn't let me post.

Athene, I know there's wonderful people there! Americans are always told that the English are real cold and distant and won't talk to strangers, but I've found the opposite to be true on both my previous visits. People say "good morning" when walking down the street, and we always got good service at any shop or restraunt.

When I asked for 'tips' I was thinking more along the lines of how to not be offensive to your sense of decorum. Americans are usually thought of as loud and pushy, but we want to be good guests. :)

I find it hard to imagine that you would be pushy or unpleasant! I'm sure you will fit in just fine :)

But make sure you have a good raincoat and umbrellas!
thank you!

Will have to learn how to use an umbrella again.

You should also be aware that 'tea' means different things to different people. To some it is a brown drink made with dried leaves and hot water, to others it is the meal you eat in the evening. I have never quite got my head around who says what, but I think it is both a north / south thing and a class thing - Athene? Any clarification on this one?

And Athene's right - don't mention Bush. And if anyone asks you, say you're Canadian!

Just kidding. ;)

Don't mention Bush and compliment people on their gardens, that's all you really need to know.

^_^ :D ^_^

I don't think I could pass for a Canadian accent, even on a good day.

You guys a great!

Tea is many things, it's the drink - always hot, no namby pamby iced tea here. :p If you're a working class northener then tea is the main evening meal - not sure about the south,. And if you're posh you can have afternoon tea which is a meal eaten around 4 pm involving small sandwiches, cakes and of course many cups of tea - not many people have afternoon tea, I sometimes make it for my family on special occasions.

You don't need to pretend to be a canadian ;)

This reminds me of when I took my hubby to the UK :D We were actually in Wales in a little cafe and my hubby wanted some iced tea. He asked the waitress if she had any and she looked at him like she didn't have a clue what he was talking about. He then asked her to bring him a cup of tea and a glass of ice so he could make it himself :D She must have thought he was some crazy American putting ice in his tea! :D

I'm late chiming in, and I know I'm not quiverfull, or at least not yet (hubby and I have been talking about it), but I saw this thread and just wanted to congratulate you! I wish I could have had 2 babies so close together, they'll bond so much as they grow and they'll probably be really close, and what a blessing that is! I hope all goes well with the pregnancy and the breastfeeding:)
