@Crib:

When I said the three angels messages were one, I wasn't saying that the messages were identical. I was saying they are one in the sense that they serve the same purpose, and that is to turn the people back to God.

That's why I believe that all three messages are a part of the everlasting gospel. Does that help clear up anything?

THE EVERLASTING GOSPEL
It is my understanding that this Everlasting Gospel means that as Sister White said, the Law points us to Jesus because of our guilt and then Jesus points us back to the Law because we then have to keep it by faith.

That is why God's people are pointed to in Rev 14:6-12 and "Here are they that keep the commandments of God and have the faith of Jesus".

EG White said that the faith of Jesus is that faith by which He overcame the powers of darkness, and by which we are to do the same. She said that the passages in Rev 14:6-12 really summarize the entire experience of the Believer.

I realized this when I read what AG Daniels had to say about the Righteousness by Faith Message of Jones and Waggoner. in 1924, it was voted that the members of the Miniterial Association Advisory Council that AG Daniels arrange a compilation of the writings of EG White on the subject of Justification by Faith. And in AG Daniels book called "Christ Our Righteousness" he goes through this entire thing.

As a child I had gotten hold of a copy of "Steps To Christ" and I held it as a valuable tool along with my bible.

The outline appeared to teach what most of Christiandom calls the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Notice that the books of Daniel and Revelation provide minimal input in the steps to knowing Jesus Christ.

Notice that the Catholic Church or question like "what day is the sabbath" does not take center stage causing the believer in Christ to choose a denomination.

Notice that the books of Daniel and Revelation provide minimal input in the steps to knowing Jesus Christ.

I totally undestand what you are saying Crib in that the Gospel has always been considered to be the first four books of the NT that marrated Christs life on earth in human form... and that is a great lace to start an understanding of Him but it is by no means the end. Thats why some on this thread are saying it is the entire written record that comprises the Gospel, the story of Christ.

You said you did not feel that Daniel and the Revelation (which are companion books) were good for knowing Jesus, but consider these verses...

Rev 1:1-8

The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass;... The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass;... Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,... he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him,... I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

That, in a nutshell, is the Gospel... as one studies deeper and deeper into the Word, Christ's character and His ministry is seen very clearly from Genesis through to Revelation.

Superficially, the Gospel is the 'red letter' part of the book but on a deeper level it is the entire book.

The gospel, flat out, is the good news. The good news is that Jesus came, died, and was raised again, and stands at the right hand of the Father making intercession for us. The bible as a whole contains the Gospel as it repeats this theme from Genesis 1 to Revelation 22. Daniel and Revelation do a beautiful job in helping the believer know Jesus, but the content of those books are solid food and not milk, so to speak.

Well :amen: to that.

Can agree :amen: again, but things get fuzzy in the specifics

Truth to consider is, If Daniel did a beautiful job to help believers know Jesus, why was the COI unprepared for the comming of the Lord?
