"The Antichrist’s cohort is known to God as the False Prophet."
--Hal Lindsey

And this theory is anti-scriptural... but people have been copying it for decades.

Matthew 11:7-10 For this is [he], of whom it is written, Behold, I send My messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.

That’s your opinion.

That there is an antichrist beast, called that because the dragon is empowering him, and Jesus said there will be false Christ’s in the tribulation - and that the second beast is a false prophet, is what scripture outlines.

The kings of the earth assemble, gather their armies at Armageddon. It is a staging place.

It's not a staging place, it's the final destination. The entire army dies at Armageddon. You claim they somehow survive to attack Jerusalem. That is impossible according to Revelation 19.

No, I did not say, nor claim, that they survive to attack Jerusalem. Why are you twisting my words?

Have you ever been in the army or military? I have, the artillery. It is normal to stage, gather at a location before moving to the target destination. Look at what the Russians did before moving into the Ukraine.

I gave you the text in both Joel and Zechariah, and it is also in Revelation 14:20.

Rev 19:19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.
Rev 19:20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
Rev 19:21 And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.

The only army that leaves Armageddon and goes to Jerusalem is Christ and his army.
Armageddon is not the Second Coming. The Second Coming brings Christ the Prince to Jerusalem years before Armageddon. Armageddon only happens if a 42 months is necessary. 42 months is for the gleanings after the final harvest. The gleanings will be those beheaded. This final harvest is to remove mankind from earth. If no one is left to remove, then the winepress at the ceremonial end will still happen even if Satan does not get 42 months. The 7th Trumpet sounds before Revelation 13. Revelation 13 only happens if the week of the 7th Trumpet is split in half. This is the gap in Daniel 9:27. The gap is only 42 months. Daniel 9:27 is not the fulness of the Gentiles. It is not the last 1992 years. The 42 months is the period of utter desolation mentioned in Daniel 9:27.

Revelation 14:18-20 And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe. And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast [it] into the great winepress of the wrath of God. And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand [and] six hundred furlongs.

Matthew 13:39-40 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.

Armageddon is not the Second Coming.

It is the second coming. Jesus literally comes out of heaven and comes there (with an army of His own) and destroys an army from the sky.

Rev 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
Rev 19:12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
Rev 19:13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
Rev 19:14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
Rev 19:15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

Where are you coming up with that view ?
Matthew 13 has Christ with the angels on the earth for the final harvest.

There are 3 groups harvested. There are 3 types of judgments in Revelation. The church is covered by the Seals, and leaves first at the Second Coming in the 6th Seal. Which also brings the angels to earth.

The Trumpets are the gathering of Israel out of all nations. Matthew 25. This is the harvest of the sheep and goats. This is after Christ the Prince sets up His throne in His Temple in Jerusalem. During the Trumpets the seeds are being sown per Matthew 13 for the final group harvested, the wheat and the tares during the Thunders. The 7th Trumpet is the celebration at the end. It is a week long event, ending in the winepress of Revelation 14. A week of days per Daniel 9:27, Revelation 10:7.

If necessary for any gleanings after the final harvest, then there is Satan's 42 months. That is why we get an AoD. That is why Jerusalem is abandoned. Armageddon is the final judgment of the 7 vials to end this kingdom set up by Satan called mystery Babylon. If there is no 42 months, there is no need for an AoD, or any part of Revelation 13, 15-19. And no need for a return at Armageddon. The winepress in Revelation 14 is the end of the 7th Trumpet celebration. Revelation 14 is symbolic of the final harvest being brought to a close. None of Adam's flesh and blood are alive at that point.

In Matthew 24, Jesus gives us the history from the Cross to the end in verses 4-14.

"And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come."

Then Jesus gives us 4 specific events:

The AoD.
Time of greatest tribulation ever.
The Second Coming.
The fig tree sign.

The fig tree is not the last event in that list. Yet it is the generation that would live to see all the other 3 events, or at least a few would still be alive until the very end. So you still have a set of 4 like John gave us a set of 4. You still have 3 groups and 3 events.

The 0T prophets and prophecies are all Israel centered. None of them allow for a NT church. Not even Daniel 9:26. It never states the Gentile church is part of Messiah being cut off. Not even Christ hints at a prolonged NT Gentile church in the OD. There is no way the church is going to be recognized as a group in the OT nor the OD. The only thing we are given in Matthew 24 is verse 14.

"And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come."

So even according to the work of the 12 apostles that could have been seen completed in their lifetimes. Yet John receives a whole set of Revelations that are now centered around 7 churches and what they are going to do with this information. But even then, Israel is still the central theme and still no knowledge is leaked that there would be a 1900+ years long fulness of the Gentiles NT church, while Israel is set to the side, and obviously in 70AD scattered to the 4 corners of the world.

The fig tree sign would be lost on all. The order in Matthew would be lost as well. Now all people could do was try to understand 70AD according to Revelation itself. Certainly no order but only tribulation itself would be gained from the OD in light of 70AD.

It is a return after a 42 month event. It is not the Second Coming after the NT church has been brought to an end. The church set up at Pentecost will not be on earth after the 6th Seal. The 6th Seal is the Second Coming, that closes the harvest of the NT church. That is clearly established in Revelation 7, even before the 7th Seal is opened. No more church on earth after the Lamb's book of life is opened. It is the final harvest, and names start being removed. The church was sealed, completed, and glorified at the 5th and 6th Seal. It can no longer participate on earth, until the New Jerusalem comes down in the NHNE. There is still a 1,000 year period left until that happens.

The kings of the earth assemble, gather their armies at Armageddon. It is a staging place. Of course the numbers will be so large that the armies spreads out to most of Israel. Not all will be in Jerusalem, when they are killed. (Revelation 14:20)
Megiddo was the place of many battles, and Elijah stood on Mount Carmel against Jezebel's false prophets. You make one very valid point by quoting that verse, because it's something I keep coming back to.

Outside of which city? There was a Bethlehem of Galilee. But was there a Jerusalem of Galilee, as well? Where is Haifa ever mentioned in the Bible?

Jeremias 27:17-21 Israel is a wandering sheep; the lions have driven him out: the king of Assyria first devoured him, and afterward this king of Babylon has gnawed his bones. 18
Therefore thus saith the Lord; Behold, I will take vengeance on the king of Babylon, and upon his land, as I took vengeance on the king of Assyria. And I will restore Israel to his pasture, and he shall feed on Carmel and on mount Ephraim and in Galaad, and his soul shall be satisfied. In those days, and at that time, they shall seek for the iniquity of Israel, and there shall be none; and for the sins of Juda, and they shall not be found: for I will be merciful to them that are left on the land, saith the Lord.LXX

Carmel, Ephraim, Galaad... all in the north... so where is Jerusalem? Did a pregnant woman really travel on the back of a donkey all the way to Bethlehem in the south? Did the 11 really go from Jerusalem all the way to some mountain in Galilee, in under a day, according to John?

Do we even know where the tower of Babel was? The seventy knew.

Esaias Isaiah 10:8-12 And if they should say to him, Thou alone art ruler; 9 then shall he say, Have I not taken the country above Babylon and Chalanes, where the tower was built? and have I not taken Arabia, and Damascus, and Samaria? 10 As I have taken them, I will also take all the kingdoms: howl, ye idols in Jerusalem, and in Samaria. 11 For as I did to Samaria and her idols, so will I do also to Jerusalem and her idols. 12 And it shall come to pass, when the Lord shall have finished doing all things on Mount Sion and Jerusalem, that I will visit upon the proud heart, even upon the ruler of the Assyrians, and upon the boastful haughtiness of his eyes.LXX

Where is the land of Israel in this conquest? The archaeologists say Jerusalem was never taken by Assyria... but that can't be true, because that would make Isaiah a false prophet.

So for the person to be the Antichrist - he has to become the King of Israel coming in his own name.

No, Doug, no, what you are preaching will NEVER happen. In fact, according prophecy, he will manifest himself as MESSIAH, a false messiah, of course, AN IMPOSTOR, understand? -John 5:v.43-47 combined with Revelation 13:v.11 - he will manifest himself as a LAMB with two horns, a false LAMB, of course, and he speak as Dragon. It is he who will be the main guide of the ESOTERIC and kabbalistic, and spiritist JUDAISM, as a Prophet and Master of Torah, and he will be the RULER of Israel as messiah, NOT as King, as you say erroneously.

By the way, the president of Ukrane is a Jewish, and today the Prime Minister of Israel Naftali Bennett was visited by the German chacellor Olaf in his first visit to Israel, and both talked about the conflict of Ukraine, even Putin talked over the phone with the Jewish Prime Minister about the conflict that, as I see, it is creating an environment for manifestation of the false messiah in Israel, not like a king, surely, but like a messiah and the main ruler of Israel.

Before putting "Anti" in front of Christ, the functional role of Christ in the scriptures is ....

John 1:49 Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.

John 12:12 On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,

13 Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.

Mark 15:32 Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him.

John 5:43 I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.

So for the person to be the Antichrist - he has to become the King of Israel coming in his own name.

The little horn person is of the fourth kingdom in Daniel 7 as well as the ten kings. So obviously, the little horn person does NOT start as the Antichrist, King of Israel, coming in his own name. But goes through a transitional of role as the prince who shall come to becoming the King of Israel, coming in his own name.

little horn, prince who shall come, Antichrist, revealed man of sin, beast - are not just different names for the person - but are different functional roles the person goes through on the way to his destruction.

John 18:37 Pilate therefore said unto Him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king: to this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth My voice.

What you're saying here finally made some sense to me, Douggg. The little horn is a king, simply because horns are kings... whether or not they have crowns is immaterial, since crowns became a new thing even in the ancient kingdom of Britain. This little-horn-king rises up after the 10, and by wounding 3 of the horns, becomes the 8th king.

I think the prince who shall come is the prince of this world, though. Michael is called a prince, in Daniel. And Psalms 82:7 (LXX) says "Ye are gods, and all of you the children of the Most High; but ye die as men, and fall as one of the princes." This prince is the dragon who falls with his angels. Revelation 12:15-16... the Earth opening her mouth is the earthquake that causes the remnant (their enemies) to give glory to God (Revelation 11:11-12) and splits the mountain.

These two next verses are talking about the same endtime event.
--- The first set of servants in Matthew, below, must be the two witnesses. This would make the second set of servants the remnant evangelizing the multitude for the glass sea.
--- Daniel seems to be talking about three separate events and three different people, separated by colons: Jesus, the armies of the beast, the remnant. Because Daniel's "cut off with a flood" must be a different event from Revelation 12:15-16... nobody got cut off with that flood. But often, floods of people are meant.

Daniel 9:26 And after the sixty-two weeks, the anointed one shall be destroyed, and there is no judgment in Him: and He shall destroy the city and the sanctuary with the prince that is coming: they shall be cut off with a flood, and to the end of the war which is rapidly completed He shall appoint the city to desolations.LXX

Matthew 22:6-8 And the remnant took His servants, and entreated [them] spitefully, and slew [them]. 7 But when the King heard [thereof], He was wroth: and He sent forth His armies and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. 8 Then saith He to His servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy.

So, at some point in time, the armies of the beast are in Jerusalem. Think about what this means.

In Daniel 7:5 and Daniel 8:20, Persia is called a bear and a ram. Does that make Persia a Christian or a false prophet (Matthew 7:15)?

Jesus is prophet and priest, king and Messiah, John 18:37.

If a person remembers this sequence, the end time prophecies about the arch villain will all make sense.

the little horn > becomes the prince who shall come > becomes the Antichrist > becomes the revealed man of sin > becomes the beast.

The narrative is the person becomes leader of the EU. Following Gog/Magog, he comes into the middle-east with his EU army as peace keepers. The Jews will think he is the messiah and the person is anointed the (unapproved by God) King of Israel.

Three years, thereabouts, go by and he commits the transgression of desolation, claiming to have achieved God-hood. End of his time as the (unapproved by God) King of Israel, Antichrist.

The person is killed for his act. He is brought back to life, to be the beast. Which he then is the dictator of the EU and world. Until Jesus returns, to cast him into the lake of fire.

John writes that “many antichrists have come”, reminding us that there has been great opposition to Christ ever since he was born (remember how Herod killed all the babies in Bethlehem trying to get to Jesus?). Throughout the whole Bible, we find characters who are ‘anti’ God’s plans—wicked men, foreign kings, false prophets and ‘the beast’ who features in Revelation 13. Even in Deuteronomy, there are warnings about the rise of prophets who lie and preach rebellion against the true God.
But is there going to be one mega-evil ruler who will deceive the world and lead millions astray and do things like brand ‘666’ on their foreheads?
Probably not. There are passages in the Bible which talk about a particular being who is Christ’s foe (e.g., “the man of lawlessness” in 2 Thessalonians 2 or the dragon of Revelation 12-13 who is identified as the Devil). But this kind of symbolic language is used to describe an attitude or spirit of evil rather than a single evil person. The fact that some parts of Scripture bring ultimate evil to a head by using an individual character to identify it probably says more about how dramatic literature operates than it does about predicting history.
The worst thing about antichrists is that they have come from within the church! The apostle John wrote that they “went out from us, but they did not really belong to us”. This is what antichrists do. They get among believers and try to deceive them, persuading them to believe lies and getting people to follow them and their deceptions rather than Jesus and his truth. They teach that Christ did not come in the flesh (1 Jn 4:1-3); they say it doesn’t matter whether you sin or not (1 Jn 1:5-10); and they neglect their Christian brothers and sisters (1 Jn 4:19-21).

According to God’s word, the antichrist might have sat next to you in the church pew. This isn’t a scene from a horror movie; quite the opposite-it is an everyday event. In this final age before Jesus returns, plenty of opponents of Jesus will arise. And they may even be in church, trying to deceive us and lead us into error. But Christians can be confident and at peace, because there will be a day when all ‘antichristness’ will be done away with.

It’s a bit of a waste of time trying to work out whether the antichrist is Boris Yeltsin, the Dalai Lama, Bill Gates or the Pope. It’s just as likely to be your granny or your next door neighbour, if they are promoting lies about our Lord.

Just make sure it isn’t you …

See that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father. And this is what he promised us—even eternal life. (1 John 2:24-25)

The harlot is Vatican in Rome, present in the nations through the RCC.... will be burnt to the ground by the ten EU leaders at the time of the beast.

There are two mysteries in Daniel and Revelation. One is Mystery Babylon the mother of harlots... which by the Greek word means idolotry and adultery in one. And there is no possibility of adultery being called down on a woman by a man who isn't married to her. Mystery Babylon was considered married to God. The other mystery is the fourth beast of the statue and of the composite beast. Rome is the next in chronology, in terms of world rulers. But did the secular Roman Empire grind the world under its feet? Even in Palestine, the synagogue was allowed to kill people who went against their own law. To be able to grind nations in to powder, it would have to rule absolutely. The non-secular Roman church had that power. They controlled the crowning of kings, etc. ad nauseam. At least one author calls the church the Roman Beast. Who murdered people under the Inquisition for failure to follow their thinking? and called Galileo a heretic for the same reason? The charge of heresy seems to have been that against the Papacy, and not against God... since Galileo was right.

"THis Book at its first Publishing, which was shortly after the Death of King Charles the First, had the ill fortune to be coldly received in the world, by reason of the Circumstances of those times; but after K. Charles the Second was possest of the Crown, and endeavoured to advance the Prerogative beyond its just bounds, the Book began to be much enquired after, and lookt into by many Learned Men who were not willing to part easily with their Birth-Rights, so that in a short time it became very scarce, and was sold at a great rate; this occasion'd the private Reprinting of it in the year 1672, which as soon as the Government perceived, they Prosecuted both the Publisher and the Book so violently, that many hundreds of the Books were seized and burnt; that, and the great want of the Book since occasioned the Reprinting of it (without any Alterations or Omissions) in the year 1682, when the Press was at liberty by reason of the ceasing of the Act for Printing, but Prerogative then getting above the Law, it met with a new Persecution, and the Publisher was Indicted for the Reprinting of it;..."

Having just found this book and so far only glanced through it... several things stand out... including Nathaniel Bacon's ideas regarding the 7-head structure of the Roman Beast. And anything banned about this subject must always bring a shovel and pickaxe to the hand of this patient researcher.

Which means rethinking the unquoted part of this post:

I used to laugh at the idea of a revived Roman Empire. But now I think they're a tiny bit correct. The "Holy Roman Empire"(HRE) came to Germany, and apparently went to Russia, too. And this IS what became of the Roman Empire, after all... you can see it in the HRE title. The Lateran Treaty healed the wound of Rome and at the same time crippled Italy.

NOW the pieces fit.

There are only 2 harvests, the wheat and the tares are the lambs and the goats. The second of each set is the "vine of the earth" that is gathered and dropped into the winepress of wrath. Several different names for the same people are given, all through the Old Testament and in the Gospel of the Kingdom of Heaven.
The beast, the little-horn, the anti-christ, the false-prophet... they're all the same vine-of-the-earth. This is the fourth beast of Daniel and the composite beast of Revelation.

There is only one final harvest. The sheep and goats are during the Trumpets. The wheat and tares are during the Thunders. A series of 13 events that are chronologically in order leading up to the 7th Trumpet.

The sheep and goats is not a harvest. It's a separation. The wheat and tares is really a separating as well but since wheat is mentioned then harvesting it is appropriate language.

The harvest of the sheep is a judgment wrapped up into a gathering. It is a harvest because those souls are going to their final destination: Eternal Life or eternal damnation. It is the end of their physical journey in Adam's flesh and blood.

Sheep, wheat, goats, and tares are just symbolic terms for Israel and all other Gentiles outside of Israel. Those people understood it in the first century. Now we will live it, and no one seems to understand just exactly what will happen.
