The elect cut off

It's always interesting how when the perseverance of the Saints is denied, how the same people will argue in favor of the omniscience of God and the immutability of God (including His knowledge). If the elect can be "cut off", then they were only "elect" in the mind and sight of men, not the mind and sight of God, and were never chosen or effectually called by God before the foundation of the world, never having their name in Lamb's book of life...we do not believe God makes mistakes or needs an eraser, do we?

Exactly right, I agree with you as does the Westminster Confession that states, "By the decree of God, for the manifestation of His glory, some men and angels are predestinated to everlasting life, and others are foreordained to everlasting death."

"These angels and men, thus predestinated and foreordained are particularly and unchangeably designed; and their number is so certain and definate that it cannot be either increased or diminished."

That's why Arminianism since the time of Robert Shank has claimed that God's Election is corporate, and not particular.

Of course it is a nonsense claim. Election is both particular and corporate.

Even today, there is a big following on "corporate election".

One of the biggest supporters of this is John Hagee.

He claims Romans 9-11 do not apply to Gentile Christians as these chapters are specifically for Jews (Israel).

There is the enormously controversial doctrine of election; that God choses to save some and allows others to be lost...I believe this doctrine applies exclusively to the Jewish people and does not apply to Gentile believers.

First, it is obvious that divine election is taught in scripture. (See Rom. 9:27; 11: 5,7, 28.) The question is: To whom is divine election offered? In my opinion, divine election is offered only to the nation of Israel...Divine election is a fact for some of the Jewish people who are a "remnant according to the election of grace" (Rom. 11:5). Divine election simply is not so for Gentiles.

And it is only a few pages on and he says:

The Old Testament is full of Israels "backslidding". It is recorded over-and-over again. They would backslide, God would punish, they would come back, and then they'd backslide again. And the process would repeat.

Jeremiah also addresses Israel telling them that God has "divorced" them.

And even after that, they were never "cut-off".

The idea that even one elect can be "cut-off", lose their salvation, is not scriptural.
