  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I got very serious about it after I discovered the "Nicolaitans Code". Out of curiosity how do you interpret the "Seven Headed Beast" which is ridden by a harlot dressed in purple and scarlet with the name "Babylon" upon her forehead ?

Seven headed beast: Check out 'Leviathan' in the Jewish Encyclopedia

My appologies, I should have said Zechariah 5 : 5 - 11. My eyesight isn't as good as it was when I created my scripture studies document, and I used "Superscripts" for the verse numbers.

The point though is that the "Babylon" which is to be destroyed is no longer the "Original Babylon".
Zechariah 5 : 5 - 11 tells the story of a wicked woman, (harlot), being stuffed in a basket then flown to the plains of "Shinar", (Babylon), where a house was built for her, (New International Version), or where they mean to build a temple for her and put her on a "Plinth", - (Pedestal), Jerusalem Bible.

While Isaiah 47 : refers to "The Daughter Of Babylon" and "The Daughter of the Chaldeans". i.e. no longer the original Babylon, but rather its "Spiritual Descendant". If you study ALL the material pertaining to Babylon that appears in the Bible thoroughly, (which I have), you will come to the conclusion that it cannot have anything to do with Iraq.

Kermmie: I sent you a reply to your message and they blocked it because one has to have 15 posts and I have 14. Maybe another day I will view your work, but now is not the time. Thank you for offering it. Perhaps you will get my message when this goes through. I believe a new headquarters (for the Antichrist) will be built somewhere near where ancient Babylon was. This the Antichrist will do before he decides to make havoc in Jerusalem with the Abomination of Desolation thingy. The Antichrist is called the Assyrian. I also believe Syria will have something to do with the revitalization. So, I believe there is a spiritual Babylon and a literal one. The new one is going to be utterly destroyed supernaturally via an earthquake, made totally desolate.

Back to the point : Would anyone at this site like me to PM them my "Re Babylon Short Form" document ? It is 4 pages long; and contains my basic conclusions re Babylon. I also have a 38 page "Intermediate Version" which I can email to those who find my "Short Form" version sufficiently compelling that they regard it as being worth seeing.

Scripture tells us who it is:

Revelation 17:18

The woman you saw is the great city that rules over the kings of the earth.”

The great city is Rome, which was the greatest city on Earth at the time, and which is confirmed by this verse:

Revelation 17:9

This calls for a mind with wisdom. The seven heads are seven hills on which the woman sits.

Rome is famously built upon seven hills. This also matches the prophecy of daniel concerning the revived roman empire. Metaphorically, women symbolize churches in scripture, and the church in Rome, which still is, is the catholic church. Therefore the harlot of babylon is the Catholic church.

Even the catholic encyclopedia argues Rome is babylon:

CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles

The Catholic Church is on the Vatican, which is one hill in Rome. The Catholic Church is not built upon seven hills.

References in scripture to Babylon was usually code for Rome, which was the capital of the Roman Empire which was incredibly cruel to Christians.

Unfortunately, some Christians have interpreted scripture it a funny way to believe that the writers of the NT really meant the Catholic Church. Much of it was used to justify the discrimination and persecution of Catholics, especially in the United States. Thus, when bricks were thrown at Catholic kids leaving Church, it was considered okay, because they thought God hated them, they were an abomination and he was going to send them to hell and burn all their churches anyways.

Really, it was just about hating people that were slightly different from them and came from a different country. But that does not justify harming and killing people, so you need to make up a good story about how their faith is evil so you can be cruel to them. Oh well, Jesus told us that this would be.
