CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

No, many who voted for Trump know exactly what they want. They want to take down the Washington establishment. They want to stop immigration, put tariffs on China and Mexico to give them more jobs, and they want to stop those who don't look like them from getting their jobs.

I say no. His success in the race is coming from an anger that citizens have about the way Washington works (or not, depending on your view). People just don't care that he's brash, a liar, a racist and hates women. He only represents their anger. And he well knows that.Or is it everyone that voted for Trump is a sucker?

You both have made some very good points, although it was initially suppose to be joke.
I think the people who voted for Trump should be more careful about what they wish for or they may end up regretting voting for him in the end.

and Bernie won the VAST majority of independents!
This makes sense since Bernie is an Independent and not a Democrat.

Of course. It's not as simple as "young people will vote for someone that's young." Young people will vote for the polar opposite of Trump. I did. I was in Michigan and I voted for Sanders.

Trump and Sanders are hardly polar opposites in their policies or their target audiences. I suspect that many in Michigan who support the similar trade policies chose between voting for Sanders and voting for Trump.
