• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

We are just having another vote pro or against free trade. Obama supports free trade and a fast track authority for the president, as all former presidents have done. The list of those opposed is the same as always: isolationist Republicans like Buchanan and Paul, unions, and those to the left of Obama.

There are a few more protections for workers in the currently proposed treaties than at the time of NAFTA, but the principles are the same. The US can choose to have trade alliances with countries that we lower tariffs with, or not. We currently have the choice with several Asian countries. We also have a similar choice with European countries.

Many on the left believe that higher tariffs and more restrictive trade helps the American worker and consumer. Personally, I don't know how our workers and consumers are helped by reducing our trade with other countries, and punting on the US having increased input on the rules of international trade.
NAFTA was a total disaster for american workers so if it like that thenm I understand why so many are against it

If you look at China before NAFTA you'd find an impoverished 3rd world country with very few if any highrises and about the only traffic on it's roads was Party officials being driven around. If you'd look at the U.S. before NAFTA you'd have found a country that had major production facilities with a healthy middle class. Take a look at where the two countries are now. China has a very healthy economy with a rising middle class, bumper to bumper traffic and is a world leader in production of goods. The U.S. has a shrinking middle class that has fallen behind economically and just about all our job growth is in the service sector. "You want fries with that order?"

Call your congressman today and ask they oppose both Fast Track and the Trans Pacific Partnership! The House will be voting on Fast Track very soon. It's time to stop ObamaTrade!

I don't really blame those who've left. Political discourse on this board has somehow gotten even worse since I first started posting here. It used to be entertaining and now by and large it's tedious. I still lurk now and then but I haven't felt much desire to post anymore.

Good to see that not teaching your kids about birth control has worked so well for Sarah Palin's daughter.
Interesting. Didn't she just call of a wedding?

I hope she can live with the reputation she has presented. The limelight must be a tough place to work.

Yes. I wanted to make a thread about it, but couldn't be bothered in the end. It's interesting to watch how conservative Christians deal with these issues. Apparently she's disappointed everyone and let them down. I hope the child doesn't learn to read, like, ever because then it won't have to find out that it was the source of so much negativity. :(

Good call not posting a thread. It would only be gloating because they know she has not practiced what she preached. There is no rational defense. She only let herself down. I hope it humbles them.

Wasn't she the spokesperson of reformed chastity?

"It's amazing to see what happens when you place everything in life in God's hands."

very true and I have nothing to say about others they are free to do as they will. Marriage is between a man and a woman and God, you just need to say vows in front of God you dont really need a license unless you want the state to recognize it as a legal marriage
