  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

What's up with all the socially regressive laws being passed? Perhaps I missed it, but I don't recall Jesus condoning hatred, bigotry, or treating an entire segment of humanity like dirt. Do these people actually think Jesus would behave like that?
Who's pushing the 'religious freedom' legislation in states? - CSMonitor.com
But when asked whether ALEC was involved in supporting the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, ALEC spokesperson Bill Meierling responds: “We do not work on firearms, marriage equality, immigration, any of those things people frequently say are ours.”

..."While ALEC may not be directly distributing the template legislation we’re seeing pop up all over the country, they are the primary conservative legislative exchange and are courting legislators at their educational seminars and conferences," Mr. Meyer says in a phone interview.

Not ALEC-written, but ALEC-distributed.

Want to understand the violence seen in the black communities recently? Don't trot out MLK and go preaching about nonviolence, for King knew and understood what was going on, then in 1968 as now:
"But it is not enough for me to stand before you tonight and condemn riots. It would be morally irresponsible for me to do that without, at the same time, condemning the contingent, intolerable conditions that exist in our society. These conditions are the things that cause individuals to feel that they have no other alternative than to engage in violent rebellions to get attention. And I must say tonight that a riot is the language of the unheard. And what is it America has failed to hear?...It has failed to hear that the promises of freedom and justice have not been met. And it has failed to hear that large segments of white society are more concerned about tranquility and the status quo than about justice and humanity."

hey nice to meet all you liberal christians, im also liberal and its so depressing how almost all christians today seem to be republican or libertarian and its like the entire church is corrupted.

People think obama is bad but how do republicans and libertarians justify the things they want to do to people as christian?? Thank God we have President Obama. The entire country would be so screwed right now if we had a Republican president there may be no coming back. Plus can you imagine two more Koch Supreme Court justices. Lindsay Graham just said if he gets to be president he would nominate Trey Gowdy for supreme court, plus troops in Syria. They hate everything that is good and hate all people, money and power are all they are about. The amount of money the world spends on military to hurt other people every 8 days, is more than enough to make sure nobody on this planet ever goes hungry again.

i get really scared about life and the future and i read the news everyday and get more and more scared, but im 26 years old and learned a lot about life and experienced lotta things so im just glad that life is short and goes by quick because i would not want to be alive 50 or 100 years from now, i would be happy if god let me die soon like i wouldnt mind being dead tomorrow or even at age 30.

lotta people say god isnt real and even though science disproves lotta things in bible i still find it comforting and i never really believed the bible was divinely inspired because its quite obvious ancient jews used it as an excuse to justify their murders, and even the NT is filled with contradictions, but i find SOME comfort from beliving in god and the way i see it even if god doesnt exist after i die i wont be disappointed cus ill stop existing but if it helps me while im alive, then that alone makes god real to me.

i had shoulder surgery last wednesday and when i got to my apartment i blacked out from dehydration and almost died, my mom found me on the floor and called 911 and they said i survived only by a matter of seconds. but i never felt a thing and it amazes me to think i could have died 100% painlessly and been in heaven living happily and maybe god was trying to take me away and now maybe when it is my time ill have to go through a lot of pain and suffering like a burnign to death in a car accident or cancer, i been praying for him to take me away since i was age 20 cus i have had a pretty hard and depressing life but i try to make the best of it when i can, and i kinda wish i did die cus now i gotta suffer here again :( but np cus i know life is short and i talked to older people and they are 70-80+ and they said life flew by in seconds and seems only yesterday they were my age so that is comforting to me i dont know why we are here but i feel like god found us on this planet and he rescues us from this world.

hey guys can someone pls explain to me how come most threads here get so 1 sides? ie: in this thread a libertarian talks about how great life would be without government, and its good we got caring people replying, but how come none of the other republicans and libertarians are saying anything? <Staff Edit>
http://www.christianforums.com/threads/what-if.7879715/

edit: actually turns out lotta the people replied are libertarian/republican, but they all talking like liberals :) i didnt notice cus with new layout faith and politic icons are gone :)

just goes to show how much people get along more without religion and politics int he mix lol, and how lotta republicans are actually liberal int heir beliefs, they just got conned into thinking the GOP is god's party.

The silence on the TPP from everybody is rather astounding to me.

I DO realize that the forums were down for a substantial period of time, but still...
I'm still adjusting to the new format, trying to get it back to my liking.

Also, I don't know all that much about the Trans-Pacific Partnership yet.

You're not alone, few know about it and THAT'S a big problem, if not surprising, seeing as how it's being negotiated in secret.

Well, the "Is There Any Solution for Racism" thread was interesting. I'm tempted to start a list of the open racists in our ranks, so I can keep track of them all.
I think in terms of "SMH" so much that I'm surprised my head is still attached. In just the few short days I have started posting again, I have seen rampant racism - including a poster calling for mixed race marriages to be made illegal. I believe that post still stands, which is appalling.

We are just having another vote pro or against free trade. Obama supports free trade and a fast track authority for the president, as all former presidents have done. The list of those opposed is the same as always: isolationist Republicans like Buchanan and Paul, unions, and those to the left of Obama.

There are a few more protections for workers in the currently proposed treaties than at the time of NAFTA, but the principles are the same. The US can choose to have trade alliances with countries that we lower tariffs with, or not. We currently have the choice with several Asian countries. We also have a similar choice with European countries.

Many on the left believe that higher tariffs and more restrictive trade helps the American worker and consumer. Personally, I don't know how our workers and consumers are helped by reducing our trade with other countries, and punting on the US having increased input on the rules of international trade.
