  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Just read this:
The George W. Bush email scandal the media has conveniently forgotten - Salon.com

Even for a Republican White House that was badly stumbling through George W. Bush’s sixth year in office, the revelation on April 12, 2007 was shocking. Responding to congressional demands for emails in connection with its investigation into the partisan firing of eight U.S. attorneys, the White House announced that as many as five million emails, covering a two-year span, had been lost.

at the bottom was the response of Fox news - "who cares?"

The Democratic Party is going to put all it's eggs in the basket of HR Clinton. She's all they've got, and that's nothing more than a shame. What with the emails and her extremely strong ties to Wall Street she's vulnerable to the right GOP candidate.
For two years, Mrs. Clinton has been the prohibitive favorite for the Democratic presidential nomination, keeping the party’s strongest alternatives on the sidelines and depriving those who remain of potential donors and staff.

Those alternatives to Clinton include some who might be very strong candidates indeed, however as noted above keeping her as the "front runner" since the general election two years ago has squashed any chance for anyone else. In my mind that's not the way it's supposed to work. So for now all there is is a hope that Sanders will join the race and at least keep her talking about issues that truly matter to the voters.

It is more than the Republicans have.
The republicans have more than one might think. They are not going to nominate a Cruz or Carson, they will end up with a more moderate candidate, someone who will be able to match Hillary in being a "moderate" candidate. I don't want to have my vote go to a bird of a different color, I want a candidate who is truly an opposition candidate to the party of big business, not a mirror.

Then the candidate you desire will never be elected. It is fine to be idealist but an anti-big business candidate will never win.

Can I surmise that the reason is because they wouldn't get the corporate cash to mount a campaign?

I would say that would be the #1 reason.

I understand what you are saying, however I try to look at the reality that it would be better to have Hillary than any Republican. She will be no pacifist and anger quite a few liberals.

And nothing fundamental about the problems in this country will change. Might as well be Jeb. That's the true reality.

Yes, and there has been so many government officials who use private email for public use that there simply in nothing to the Clinton one. Seems to me people are looking for more ammo to bash her about Benghazi....

Seems to me that it is very hypocritical to go after someone for something that their own was doing.

I think this article is good on the climate and how history will view climate denial:

History will condemn climate change denialists | Robert Manne | Comment is free | The Guardian

As a consequence of the spread of climate change denialism, tens of millions of American citizens now base their opinions on the kind of pseudo-knowledge manufactured by the climate change denialist blogs and disseminated daily by the right-wing media. They have come to treat the questions of whether the earth is warming, and if so why, as political matters concerning which those without any genuine scientific understanding or training are as qualified to form an opinion as professors who have devoted their lives to one of the disciplines of climate science.

I think of climate change denial like denying the existence of germs, or denying germs cause disease, or denying the earth is round, or denying that the earth circles the sun and is not the center of the universe.

Climate change denial is based on ignorance.

You can come play in my climate change, its called snow of which we have had quite a bit this winter, you know thta bitter cold season. So much for warming

Are you a global warming denier because it is winter, or just because?

You should come an play in my sunshine where we have had one of the warmest winters ever. Expecting almost 90 degrees next week.

Would love to and yes, I do say that it is normal for the globe to warm and cool. Do I think we contribute to it, yes, do I think we need to do something especially at the cost of trillions of dollars, no.

Problem is Im not a Republican but I have seen the charts showing the history of temp changes over the centuries and am not conviinced that the pronlem is bad enough to justify it. You will find that my views are my own and do not adhere to Democrat or Republican. I am liberal in social issues usually although my religious beliefs make me on the other side sometimes. I just dont fit one label buut I do vote democrat usually, which is how I ended up here, that, and the Republicans would have ate me for lunch
